Default Water Pump

Hi guys just wondering if anyone has had this same issue. I have 2014 IS 250 FSport with only 52k miles on it. I recently noticed a whine coming from the front of the engine. There was nothing obvious to me, so I took it to a local Lexus shop. They diagnosed the water pump bearing was the cause of the whine. The mechanic was a Lexus mechanic for many years before coming to this shop. He was surprised that a car with low mileage was already having this issue. Has anyone else with lower mileage 3IS had this same issue? There are no other issues with the car. Thanks

If you have replaced your water pump, what was the mileage on your car when you needed to replace it?

Not normal to be replaced at that time but remember Its a wear and tear item. My front inner differential seal was leaking at 60k and dealer replaced it.

Was your car still under warranty when they replaced it? My powertrain warranty expired last January. I know it's a wear and tear item, but seems premature to be needing to be replaced. I don't drive the car that hard, no mods other than an FSport intake.

I have a 2016 200T and I had to have my water pump replaced at 42k miles because it was leaking. Mine didn't make any noises but it was discovered during an oil change. Lexus did cover it under warranty and the advisor that was helping me mentioned that he's been seeing more cars come in due to water pump issues.

I have an extended warranty which covered it. I drive hard on the car usually in a straight line lol so my guess was random.
