I have a 2016 Lexus is 200t. Few months ago, I replaced the front brakes and rotors. I also replaced the front and rear tires. When I replaced the rear tires, I went a size bigger and caused the abs light to came on. A few days ago, I replaced the rear tires with the correct size, and the ABS light still on.
Sometimes, the ABS light will go off and when this happen, the car won't accelerate when I press the gas pedal. It seems like everytime I press on the pedal, the brake is engage.
Anyone have this issues in the past , and the resolution to fix it before I take it to the dealer. I've owned the car less than a year 🙄
Why would you go a size bigger... on the rear? Drive it a bit and see if the light goes away on its own. The lights went on due to the relative speed difference due to the mismatched tire sizes. If you just recently replaced the tires w/ the right ones, it could take the car a while to figure it out.
Have you rechecked the front brakes to make sure everything is ok?
It would seem like the larger rear tires triggered the light, but you have corrected that, so there is no need for the light to return.
There is nothing to reprogram as suggested above.
Any chance you have a code reader to read the code? This will eliminate all the guessing.
Just to clarify this statement "Sometimes, the ABS light will go off and when this happen, the car won't accelerate when I press the gas pedal."...do you mean when the light goes out it won't accelerate? Or when the light goes on it won't accelerate?
If the light goes out and it doesn't accelerate, then you need to check the brakes.

If not, you may require a reprogram
I know ..I got 245 45 17 instead of 225 45 17. The lights are still on , and it will go off sometimes. But when it went off, I have trouble with the acceleration thing and than the light came back on...

When the abs light goes off, it won't accelerate. It's like everytime I press on the gas pedal without pressing the brake pedal, the brake is slightly engaged. It sounds like it's dragging on the rotors. ..I went and recheck the front brakes again to make sure it's good. Both of them are good. The strange part is the light didn't came on when I replaced the brakes. Only after I replaced the rear tires that it goes off and stay that way. I also do not have cruise control when the abs light came on which is annoying AF!
On further observations, I realized that I only use one shim that came with the new brake pads instead of using both the factory and the new shims. Will this cause the issue? I've seen youtube videos where people use both shims.

That's actually 2 sizes bigger.

When the ABS light is on it will disable other functions like Skid Control and Cruise Control.
So if I'm understanding you correctly, when the ABS light is NOT on, the car doesn't want to accelerate and it sounds like the front brakes are dragging. (this doesn't make any sense unless something is physically wrong with the brakes or brake actuator)
And when the ABS light is ON, the car drives and stops normally...but the Cruise Control doesn't work.
The pads should only have one set of shims on them...if they are aftermarket pads, then either use the shims that came with them, or the factory shims...but not both.

Yup. That's what happen. I checked the abs fuse today and everything seems good.
Just wanna give an update. I tried to reset the vcs/abs system. The abs light came back on as soon as I put in reverse. Yesterday, out of a sudden, the problem fixed itself. The Abs light went off and never comes back on so far....maybe the sensors need a few road miles to reset?
So it turned out that the issue came from a malfunction magnet sensor on the left front wheel hub. I used the tool on Amazon and pulled the code. It turned out that it had been replaced before because the old is from 'moog' brand. I replaced it with a new one and the problem is solved. Of course I had to strip the caliper bolt and has to get a new one from dealership..🙄🙄
