Default Pre-Owned Lexus

Hey guys, looking for some advice on buying a certified pre-owned IS300 F Sport. Just got in from looking at a couple IS300's. One with 15,000 miles but a TON of scratches and a small dent. They wanted $34,500 with the 2 year certification, and $32,300 without it. The 2nd dealer I went to had a 33,000 mile IS300 but wanted $33,100 with the 2 year certification.Noticing these dealers are REALLY pushing the buyer to get the 2 year certification. I walked away from both deals because I was hoping to get $31,000 without the 2 year certification. My question to you guys is, were these good deals and is asking for $31,000 lowballing the dealers? And is this 2 year certification thing really worth it or is this some BS that they just want you to buy? I found some cheaper at CPO dealerships but I'm not sure I trust them. Both dealers I went to were certified Lexus dealerships.

I currently have a 2008 IS250AWD but looking to upgrade. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for getting back to me. Just not sure I can wait that long. I was hoping to wait more towards November or December but need a new car within the next month. If the 33,000 mile car is still available next week, I might just bite the bullet. The more and more I think about it, it's not a huge deal considering it has less blemishes than the other.

$31,000 isn't low balling. Go lower. I bought a new 2020 Fsport in January for $35,000. (MSRP &44,100)

Is that with EVERYTHING out the door? Only thing is the cost of AWD is slightly more expensive. Regardless that price is INCREDIBLE! Howd you do that and do you mind coming down to NJ and helping me negotiate? 😂😂😂

Also here's a list of extras he tried to tack on.
Dealer Doc - $699
2 Year Certification - $2,039
Assurance Protection - $2,495

Initial estimate they gave me was for $38,076

I don't think I've ever dealt with a "Dealer Doc Fee" before and thought the Assurance Protection and 2 Year Certification was unnecessary.

Well here in California it might be easier. My last 3 Lexus IS's where always reduced at about 20% off MSRP. I just email every dealer with the price I want and play them off each other. I never talk to anyone or meet them until I get an email that they accepted my terms, then I go in and sign and drive away. If not, I just wait awhile or get another brand.

Man... I wish I could sell my ‘17 IS f sport for that much. My lease is up in November and the residual is $24k. Debating on whether or not to keep the car.

Those extras should be unnecessary. Stick to your guns tell them you'll drive the car home today for your price, period. Those extras are +90% extra profit for them.

Sometimes things are non negotiable, like dealer installed extras and crap. I paid $500 for a gps anti-theft for mine (probably $450 profit to them) but they dropped off over $2k of extra things I told them I wouldn't pay for. Had the deal on paper signed by the sales manager before I even got to the dealer.

Best of luck!
