Default Oil catch can needed or no?

Hello, I come to ask a question about the PCV system in the 3IS (in the 2gr-fse) and how it works and if it needs a catch can for spirited driving. I feel like it doesn't but I'm not sure.

I think CCs are only beneficial on DI engines. 2GR-FSE is a port and direct injected engine.

This has been debated a couple times on here...and as stated above, the 2GR has both port and direct injection, so any benefit from an OCC would be minimal.
Let's put it this way, if you wanted to install one, it wouldn't cause any harm to the engine, and if you captured some oil from the vent system, then bonus.
If you had the 4GR, then I would say yes, install one, as that engine is Direct Injection only.

Ok, so by reading this post, I would assume that this engine has little blowby, and therefore doesn't really need a catch can?

I would frame it as the engine has no more blowby than you would expect for an engine of this design.
Realistically you could put an OCC on any vehicle and the amount of oil captured would vary...but in the case of the 2GR the OCC would not be a 'need', more so a 'want'.
If you want to put one on, no harm in that at all. You will capture some oil, and depending on the size of the OCC, you might only need to empty it once a year or maybe once every second oil change.

Old-time communties on older engines use them all the time and they do catch blow-by, but that's what oil changes are for. Engineers design engines with this in mind. All for your convenience. All you have to do is sit back and sip your tea. This is what you're paying for when you buy a car.

So no, it's not necessary short of anything like a real race car. And no race car doesn't mean your street car with a muffler and slammed on CoiLoVerZ.

Just change your oil on time and you're fine.
