I bought some 0w20 and a kandN filter off Amazon was just curious what do y’all use and is my current set up good? It will be changed once every year I drive about 8K km on this car per year.

I buy the OEM oil filter, like 6-7$ at dealer and I buy synthetic when it goes on 50% clearance at my local auto store...usually Castrol edge extended performance or penzoil platinum or Mobil 1... I pay with filter, oil & labor approximately 70$ for an oil change.

Canadian tire has 40-50% off motor oil usually once a month or so, I’ll buy then.

I was a hardcore Mobil 1 only but it's hard to beat COSTCO full synthetic brand especially with a sale. Beast deal right now. I use Fram's Ultra Synthetic oil filters.

Last oil change I used the middle grade Fram filer, which was on sale at Crappy Tire. With tax I think it was $11.
At that time the pandemic was still new, so I couldn't get the Lexus dealer to respond to let me do a curbside pickup for a genuine filter.
I usually watch the sales at Crappy Tire...last I bought Castrol Edge also on sale for both cars.

Amazon brand oil, K&N oil filter if i want right away, or OEM oil filter if i have time to go there or order in advance. I also use whatever brand my preferred shop has since lately I pay them to do it, some no name stuff they like they don't charge me too much for.

Whatever synthetic is on sale, with an OEM filter. OEM filters are your best bet, and after watching videos where they cut apart and show the inside of filters (especially Fram), I will spend the extra $2 or so for OEM everytime.

OEM filter is well made and PROVEN over billions or even trillions of miles. And the price is right, grab a case and you're good for many years. For motor oil I'm on an Amsoil kick the stuff is awesome and not that much more expensive than other higher end synthetics.

OEM is quality but Fram makes great filters as long as you avoid the traditional "orange" cans.

Every 50,000kms...same with the rear.
It's a good time as the fluid is dirty, but not toast yet.

Any Mobil-1 synthetic 5w-30 and only OEM oil filter. I discovered that there are quite a few variants of the mobil oil, some cite "prolong engine life, "drive like new", "fuel saving" etc, etc... I just get any, so long as they are synthetic. I get 5w-30 as the weather doesnt get that cold here. Yet to try amazon's oil, but I hear only good things about them and with prime account, delivery is two-day.. very enticing with the cost almost half that of mobil.

As a side note, anyone changed their fuel filter before? Couldn't find any thread here. Is it necessary to change it? The owner's manual states to change it after 48 months but there are lengthy debates over the need to change.. hmmm... But I don't even know the part number.. thanks.

Mobil 1 oil and I have come to like the Purolator oil filters. On this car I use their PureOne oil filter. I ordered 6 filters from advanced autoparts online, used their 20% off coupon code and got free delivery at a unit cost of $9 delivered.

It looks like my costco has stopped selling motor oil and I dont know why.. that means Wally World will be the only place to get cheap Mobil1 oil.

20 years ago, jerking to oil and/or filter brands mattered. Today, not really. But guys will still do it. Jerk to a 0.8% incremental better filtration rate due to some test they saw online, when in reality most if not all filters do a great job.

I go either Toyota brand or K&N brand only cause Amazon had a great sale on them a few months ago for like two bucks each.

Same with oil. Castrol and/or Amazon 0-20. Whatever is cheapest that cycle. Right now Castrol is the cheapest so that's what I recently ordered for my next change.

The only exception to the above is if you RACE or have a highly stressed 800hp+ engine. Then pretty much Redline is king. Maybe Amsoil filters too. but that's like 0.1% of us.
