Hello everyone! I have a quick question and yes I have intensely searched for some time.
Has anyone found a way to add USB to somewhere outside of the center console?

Thanks

I think I recall seeing someone add it to the blank spots on the left lower of the drivers side of the dash. Where the BSM, Headlight washer, Rear Shade, etc. buttons are.
There should be about 6 spots for buttons that you may or may not have the options for.
Aftermarket you can buy a double usb port that fits into any one of the blank spots, after removing the blank.

You could use it for charging, but you wouldn't be able to interact with the infotainment system though.

Exactly this. I used this area to wire up a two outlet USB charging port for my wireless Iottie mount. I then notched one of the other blanks beside it, ran the wire behind the dash and out the notch so I could plug it right in to the USB port.

Thanks for the info, that is a good spot but I was looking for ideas for the passenger side, my girlfriend finds it a pain to open the center console and look in the dark to charge her phone.

There are two USB ports in there, why not just plug a tiny USB powered LED lamp in one of them, then there will be light inside the console so she can see the other port?

Good Idea but I keep stuff in there and always have to clear stuff out of the way.
What was Lexus thinking? why not put this stuff somewhere on the dash like most auto makers.

The heated seats panel has plenty of room to install a USB port. I have not taken this panel apart, but I know there has to be room behind it since IS that come with a heated steering wheel, the button is right there. These buttons also appear to be almost the same size as the knockout area by the steering wheel, but you would have to confirm this.

If you do not want to cut into this panel, you could source one with the heated steering wheel (part no. 84752-24040), and remove that button and place a USB there.

This is just an idea that I have considered doing myself, so I am not positive it will work, but I do not see why it wouldn't.

That’s a great idea. There apparently isn’t anything back there, as this one on ebay already has a hole that the user used for a subwoofer switch:

If you don’t need all the buttons, there are cheaper ones with fewer OEM option buttons.

This pretty interesting but these panels are not cheap, kinda too much money to cut it up.

If you don’t want to cut anything up, just get a USB extension cable (whatever length you need), plug it in the console and route it to some location in the passenger area, and mount the end with some double faced tape or velcro.

I'm going to locate a cheap seat heater panel and take it apart and see what I can come up with.

Why not run a USB extension cable out the back of the center console down the side of the passenger seat?
