Default Air Circulation

Hey everyone,

I'm having issues with my air circulation. I have it on recirculation all the time, but the smell from the outside still comes in. This doesn't seem to happen before. How do I disable this? I'm from Southeast Asia where the fumes from motorcycles really gets inside the cabin.

I've tried the following:
- Turn off Auto A/C Mode in Vehicle Settings
- Click the button where air can come in and click the recirculation button once again

Will disconnecting the battery, wait for 10 minutes, and turning on accessory mode to try to reinitialize the ECU work? Also, where can I find the flap where the air can get closed out/come in?

While the Recirc mode does stop the majority of outside air from coming it, it's not a 100% seal...you will still get a very tiny amount of air passing through.
The HVAC system does have a servo initialization procedure, but it can't be done by disconnecting the battery...you will need a Techstream to do it.
The flap that closes off the outside air is located above the cabin air filter, however the opening is small, so I'm not sure if you can see much of the door when it moves.
Maybe with a flashlight and the filter removed you might be able to see a portion of the door as it opens and closes.
The other way you can tell if the Recirc is working is when you go from Fresh Air to Recirc you will notice a slight increase in fan speed/noise, and a little more volume of air coming out the vents.

I'm not sure what kind of cabin filter you have now, but maybe try the one with charcoal in it...it may help with the smell depending on how bad it is.

I've always had this to some degree with any car. Kind of annoying but in your case much more important. I hit recirc well before going through a cloud of smoke or dirt, etc. And always I instantly get the smell in the cabin anyways

Hope you get a good resolve. I would definitely get the best charcoal air filter i could find. Wonder id there's any way to enhance the seal on that outside air door...

My cabin filter is the one with activated carbon though. Not sure when I last changed it so it could possibly be that. Anyway, I noticed that, with the AC turned off and recirculation on, air still comes in through the vents? Is this normal?

Nope, that's not normal. If you have recirc on and the AC off, there should be almost no air coming in.

I opened my filter and tried switching back between recirculation and fresh air mode. The mechanism seems to work. Does the mechanism only take about 1/4 to half a second to finish "switching"?
