Default Fresh Air

Is there a way to get fresh air to blow through the car? On all my other cars I could turn off the ac and hit the fresh air button opposite the recycle air button and it would allow the air from outside to blow into the vehicle. When I do this on the ES I can feel a little coming in but not much and sometimes it is much hotter than the outside temp.

Tilt the moonroof, so that more air can come in. And don't slide the shade all the way back, just a centimeter or 2 should be good enough.

Exactly what I was gonna say, but I personally think it gets noisy with the shade open so I keep it closed. It does the same thing though, more outside air flows whether its open or not

I would have never thought of doing that and will give it a try... but no way to get the outside air to blow through the air ducts?

More air will be drawn through the air ducts becaus opening the moonroof (tilting) causes a vacuum-like effect inside your car. This will draw in more air through the ducts (assuming your windows are closed). I remember this from the time I was a kid and my aunt decided to smoke inside the car knowing full well that I had asthma. Seeing the smoke get sucked out through the moonroof was kind of cool though.

ive also noticed when you turn your air off, the fresh air kinda takes on the temperature of what the previous air conditioning temperature was. So, before you turn your a/c off turn the temperature down to 70 or so, then turn the air off and turn the recycle button off.

I might be insane or on a placebo high (haha) but this seems to work for me.

Jchrisf, ithink your description is normal, on my ES with windows and sunrrof closed; fan off and in fresh air mode there is very little airflow even when cruising, which is kinda crappy cuz all my other cars were alot better. You can rinse off the cowl under the windshield w/ a hose to clean all the leaves and bugs or whatever but i think thats how it was designed.

I used to crack the back windows a bit, but there was just too much noise and I wouldn't be able to stand it for long. I usually cave in and just turn the AC on 1 bar.

This morning on the way to work it was cool out so once I got my windshield defogged I turned off the ac, turned off recycle and tilted the moon roof with the shade still closed. The vents started blowing air much more vigorously... worked like a charm.. thanks for the advice.

I find that with the rear passenger windows open it is nice and cool but too loud and my hair gets messed up This is multiplied greatly when I also open the moon roof

About the wind in hair thing. Roll all 4 windows down about an inch or two. That way the air from the front flows easily to the rear and you get cool breeze with out the "fan in the face" effect.
