What kind of improvements does this provide for the vehicle/engine? Power, mileage, throttle response, etc.?

Agree, claims are not worth much without actual evidence. Especially for something like an intake manifold which seems like a niche mod to do.

Assuming this is only the lower intake as the upper is plastic.
And since you're not removing the head, then the lower intake is pretty much being port matched to the gasket.

Maybe if you were building the motor and had it out and apart, it wouldn't be a bad idea at that point...but then you could do the head and lower intake.

I saw a video on YouTube of a guy that has ported lower intake manifold and claimed a 10whp gain on a dyno, how much work is involved tho? Anyone know how big of a job it is?

Tried to find the vid but couldn’t. It was some guy with a 3is doing some runs, he said he got the intake manifold ported and said it was around 10whp on a dyno. He didn’t tell me how much it cost though so I still have no idea if this is a few hundred dollar job or super expensive.

This is interesting I like the ides of opening up and pulling the most out if the big v6 while keeping it NA.

I had hoped they'd one day make some aftermarket upper and LIM, etc. But who's gonna do that for a Lexus?? No one.

Be an interesting project. I think even easier to get to on 3IS than the 2IS.

Port matching the lower intake to the gasket, without doing the same to the heads, is worthless. Doing both will definitely see gains, as it improves airflow and eliminates turbulence in the chamber. You will see better power throughout the entire rpm range as well as better mpg. Not really hard work, just a lot of work. If you had heads off, would also be the perfect time to use thermal barrier coating on the intake ports on the heads as well.

Thanks for sharing...great to see what the final product looked like. Certainly the guy that did the port/polish for him invested a boat of time...which is really what porting is all about, putting the time in. Countless hours sitting there with a carbide bit just grinding away.
The $30 he charged was likely just for a new bit lol...cause if he had to charge actual labor it would be in the hundreds of dollars for sure.

I have to agree with @EvilJoker on this one, unless you're doing the heads, if you did see any gains it would be minimal. If the heads were done too it would definitely be a more noticeable result.
Personally I think the porting isn't there to really give you more power (which it does), but rather to help the engine flow air better getting you into the powerband of the engine faster...which gives the impression of that much more power.

Hmm. MMR is doing 2GR stuff now? They're a huge part manufacturer for Ford's Coyote motor, they hold the HP record for it. Surprised they're even touching toyota stuff.

As for the manifold porting, It can be done on the upper and lower intake manifold. Friend of mine has a '15 S550 GT with a ported cobra jet manifold, which is plastic. granted his motor is full built with ported heads and all kinds of other goodies that aren't worth mentioning here as its irrelevant, but nonetheless, I think it would be fun to have my intake ported and throttle body bored.

Another member did it and made like 330 WHP and he was FBO as well.
