saw this on lexus enthusiast of the 2021 IS spied in a japanese magazine. if this is it, judging by the hood bulge it looks like the V8 might actually be stuffed in there. really hoping lexus steps it up if this is the full on redesign, but i won’t get my
hopes up.

as outdated as this car is, i kinda hope that it's just a refresh and not a completely new iteration as i just purchased a cpo 2018 IS 300 F Sport about six or so months ago after my previous 3IS was totaled and for selfish reasons alone, I wouldn't want my car to become obsolete (even though it already is compared to the competition) -- but obsolete within the lexus lineup, anyhow, however detrimental to the brand as a whole that may sound.

but, on the other hand, i do want lexus to succeed, so i do hope that they at least improve the powertrain options for the next refresh if that's what it should be. they certainly will should for the fourth generation of the vehicle, but when we will receive that fourth generation is up for debate -- likely not 2021. the huge refresh that lexus says is coming may indeed be enough to make the car so visually distinct (a la hyundai/kia refreshed products) that my car may essentially look a generation behind even though it'd be a refresh and not a complete redesign.

interesting to see when they'll take the cover off of the new/refreshed car and what it'll be.
