I hate to say this but you can pretty much get the deal you want on new cars because of this lockdown. Shop online with managers and drive a crazy bargain. I'd at least see where this leads.

I thought about this thread this morning, thinking the same thing.
Everybody wins, at least hes buying a car (in their mind).

Yeah. Don't feel sorry for those businesses. They just want to move inventory and get some cash in. You are doing them a gigantic favor.

I know you said you're going to pass on that car, but if it's a Lexus CPO, I think they "check" the paint as part of the certification process. Someone with more knowledge can jump in, but when I was looking to buy a used one, my dealer had a recent trade-in that was pending certification. They called me back a few days later to say that it failed certification because the paint on the rear quarter didn't meet their thickness requirement(meaning it had been repainted)

Are you set on the IS? You can pick up a clean GS for low 20s.

GS is a good idea too. Virtually no handling penalty and a lot more car. Though technically an older chassis.

As far as that car, there's a massive dent on the front door belt line. but other than that i don't see (from those pics) where there's been any respray or panel replacement.

Go for bone stock. Even wheels usually means they like to drive the car more spirited than say a middle aged to older person with the car stock.

Although, I may be posting mine soon and will 1st post with mods (offering to revert to stock anything) and I'm 33 yrs old. haha. But, I know how well I take care of it and how I drive it so I'll do so with a clear conscience.

But your right he could likely drive away with something listed at 24k with change in his pocket.

OP. Enjoy. This is the fun part.

True.. wheels can be a double edged sword. someone prideful in their car, an enthusiast, changing oil, or could be a track junky. i'd look at the tire tread and any serious curb rash for signs of how someone generally treated their car.

okay, guys and gals, i purchased a CPO 2017 IS 200t for 28k out the door including a platinum VSA extension of the two year, unlimited mileage coverage to 6 years, unlimited mileage of coverage, so my vehicle will be covered until 2026. The car has been maintained at a Lexus dealership here in north county (Lexus of Carlsbad) meticulously and it's really quite clean. Whoever leased it prior to me purchasing it took really good care of it. It has 26k miles on it. Clean Carfax, one owner, low mileage, etc., etc. So far what I've noticed is that the 2.0l I4 turbo engine is punchier than the 2.5l NA V6, but it's also quite a bit noisier when driving around town -- on the freeway not so much, but around town it's not as quiet as the 250's engine was nor is it as smooth. It's seems a bit skittish. I'm fine with it, it's not nearly as bad as I was expecting. I was expecting it to be as sluggish as the 2.5l V6, but it's not. Anyhow, if anything breaks in the next six years, I know that I'm covered.

I only financed around 5.5k, so I'll have the car paid off relatively quickly -- in a few months or so. I just didn't want to take a whole lot out of my savings account because this coronavirus thing has me nervous about finances right now. The dealership was eeeeemmmpttyyyyy. They were so willing to sell me that extended VSA for practically nothing. Anyhow, here's a picture!

Congrats. You have the new body style so it probably feels newer. Next time there is a flood warning, Uber to work and back

Beautiful color! Was trying for Atomic Silver originally before I landed on my NGP.
