I pay $1100 a year for my Performance 3. This is actually $50 cheaper than my IS350 last year. Same coverage which is $300k liability with $200 deductible. The insurance premium issue is way overblown.

Edit: if you don't believe me, go to the Tesla forums and you'll see many people have comparable insurance as other entry luxury brands.

I’m picking up the check from geico today in San Marcos. We’ll see what I decide to get — most likely the 200t/300 just because I won’t have to finance as much. My totaled car was paid off, so I don’t want any large payments. I’m upset about it.
If I were purchasing again I'd be looking for 17+ 300AWD with 350 V6. Safe tuning option for $550 to make it as quick as a 350, but with a 300 price tag.
Still I would think it's more than 200t, but less than 350.

Just replace what you had with the same thing. But a 350 this time. I agree no payments is good. Resist the temptation to get something newer/better and stuck w/ payments. use autotrader.com and craigslist to fine well maintained private party examples (get more bang for your buck this way) vs. a dealer

can't do that without getting into relatively major debt again. the insurance company cut me a check for 22k today and that won't buy a 350 without serious mileage on it. so i have to go the 200t route, unfortunately.

I sold my 55k mike 350 for $22.5k last year. Just a reference point.

Depends what you consider serious mileage? They have some 350's out there for around 22k with like 53k miles. I just checked Autotrader for a search closeby. I'm sure you can get one unless you are trying to spend less than 22k and bank the difference.

A 350 with 55k miles is still a baby. The engines are bulletproof. If it had 100hp more, i would have kept it

well, i suppose i should say that i would prefer a car under warranty. i had problems with my second gen IS. it never left me stranded, but i did have significant transmission problems, which is rare, i know, but it happened. i also had problems with the infotainment system that had to be replaced and then of course the infamous 250 carbon build-up issue that was also fixed. having a car under warranty just provides me peace of mind no matter how dead reliable the car or marque is deemed to be. that said, my 3IS had no problems during its six years of life.

I do believe that in some case you pay less for insurance for Tesla.
But for me I would have to pay 2K-2.5K/year more if I replace the model 3 with any of my current cars (exclude the Supra). Currently I pay most for the Camry, IS then Sienna. Yes, I carry much higher liability than yours. Basically double what I'm playing for insurance right now and I have no accidents (of my fault) or ticket in the pass 15 years.
My co-worker replace the CT with model 3, paying 1.8K more for the same coverage.
A friend replaced the LS with the S100D, paying 6K more for the same coverage.
Well the cars they replace cost more, so the premium increase are justified but not that much.

Thats interesting that we can be so different and still both be in California. If you look at the Tesla threads, my premiums aren't unusual...a lot of people in so-cal get the same rates as me. I had a friend who had Geico and was paying $1000 more than me until he called Wawanesa and was blown away that he could get the same coverage with paying $1000 less. But other insurance carriers charge comparable rates to Wawanesa now so if you shop around, you may get a better deal. Also, if you are in California, Tesla insurance is pretty reasonable. I got quoted $1400 a year there...couldn't beat my current rates but better than what you seem to be getting.

Could just be the lighting. I see what you mean though. It’s plausible. You just never know these days tbh. Definitely take a look at it in person then you can really tell. Pictures are too misleading.

definitely am going to take a look at that one and and an ultra white one tomorrow. leaning toward the ultra white anyhow because it has full service records.

Yeah it does look like the whole thing was replaced, maybe repainted. The 1st picture maybe lighting, the 2nd picture looks more telling to me.
I guess not a forsure thing, but certainly it's a different color on that panel. Look at where it meets the A pillar and hood.
Does the driver side panel not look like that I'm guessing?

yeah, the driver's side doesn't look like that at all. as soon as i saw the picture i immediately suspected a respray even though the carfax comes up clean. so yeah, i think i'm going to pass on viewing that car because it's out of my way.
