Default Anyone done any track days with the IS

I use to go to some HPDE track days with my S2000. Was lots of fun. I feel like the IS would so fine on the track. Not the fastest car in the world but it’s not just about that. It’s about driving the car you have and having some fun.

I would guess some racing pads and maybe super blue brake fluid and the car would hold up pretty well.

let me know if anyone has done and HPDE days.

pretty sure blue brake fluid doesn’t exist anymore and hasn’t in quite a while. DOT requires all brake fluid to be amber colored.

or are you not in the US? In which case, I’d love to have you ship me some.

Yep a helmet is required. They usually rent them if you don’t want to buy one.

Pretty sure they still offer the amber/gold version. it's just dye so you can alternate between colors between fluid changes so you know when the old fluid is out.

Yes, ATE Type 200 brake fluid is still available and is only available in amber color in the US (not sure if super blue is available overseas). ATE Type 200 is what I used to have in my IS350 before switching to Castrol SRF brake fluid (due to a much higher wet boiling point).

Yes, I've seen several at HPDE events where my wife instructs (BMWCCA, PCA, etc.).

On the forum search will get you instant answers, no waiting! I put 'track' in the search thread title option and pointed at the 3IS forum. Here are some

If ya know what's good for ya DO NOT rent a helmet that's been on 100s of heads!! I will bring my Ski helmet or Biking/Blading helmet.

You absolutely cannot use a ski or biking helmet at an HPDE, you won't be allowed on the track. The criteria varies but you typically need a SA or SNELL rated helmets. Most organizations won't allow motorcycle helmets either.

For rental helmets, you use a balaclava (aka head sock) under it.
