Default Replacing Original Pads and Rotors

Just had a few question regarding pads and rotors for 2016 IS300 f sport:

1. when (mileage) did you get your stock pads and rotors replaced?
2. what did you replace them with and how do you like them?

Looking into getting stop tech pads and rotors since I’ve been hearing little squeals at 31K mi.

You don't replace pads and rotors by Mileage or noise. You replace them both when then reach the minimum thickness. I don't know what those measurements are for a 3IS, and they may differ by model. You can find out from the dealer or maybe someone here will post those dimensions.

That is a good point... especially since everyone’s driving style is different. Thought there would possibly be a general mileage range

My F Sport pads only lasted 10-15k miles before needing replacement. I switched to Akebono ASPs and they longer with no brake dust. Similar bite in street use. My Rotors lasted 30k miles.

I replaced my rear rotors and pads at ~45K miles, even though the 2nd set of pads had plenty of life left. The rotors had warped slightly, just enough to cause a chirp noise at slower speeds. I lubed the slides and pads first, but after a couple of rains, the noise started to come back. I replaced the rotors and the pads as well and the noise went away.

I bought my car at 60,000kms and the fronts needed doing, but it was indeterminate whether the first owner had ever done the brakes. Almost certain the rears haven't been done, and they have lots left.

I went with Akebono pads (always excellent) and R1 Concepts Geomet rotors (Kevin is a vendor on here). Replaced them with a friend, using the guide on here.

Rotors don't warp:

Now does anyone know the minimum thickness for pads or rotors That is the most accurate way of knowing when to replace either.

I believe factory new is 30mm and when they are worn down to 28mm you need to replace by factory specifications/recommendations. However OEM Blanks or OE Blanks are cheap they come with pads as well so it shouldn't take much to have them installed at a regular shop instead of the dealership.

For daily and spirited driving blanks will be good, track use and stuff have other styles like getting drilled and slotted but not everyone tracks a car or does extreme sports. As long as you maintain your equipment on your car, you should have no issues. Like after a drive wait for things to cool down to a safer temperature to wash so I avoid automated washes or a car wash after a drive no matter how long the car was running. I've noticed when I drove aggressive and used my brakes often I had no chirping/squeaking but when I started changing my habits due to working father recently, things changed but it could just be the pads needs some good self cleaning.
