Default Do I need new pads with new rotors

I just bought new Lexus pads about 6K miles ago and I'm about to replace the front rotors. Do I need to get new pads? I am going to get the Rotora slotted rotors, any opinions on those? Recommended pads with those rotors?

You 'should' but you don't 'have to'.... Depends on how bad the current pads are worn. I've resurfaced rotors w/o doing pads (simply because I forgot to get them) and the mechanic scuffed my pads (can't remember the term they used) so they would bed better on the new rotors.

I ordered the Rotora slotted / drilled rotors from Sewell. Now I need some pad recommendations. If I keep the stock pads am I not getting the benefit of the new rotors, or is the combination what improves the braking?

I always thought that if you get a performance rotor that you need a good pad such as ceramic etc.. to match the rotor.. Maybe I'm wrong but i would think you would want the best performace possible out of your brakes.. I'm sure the stock ones would be ok but ask around some more.. Thanks

hey andy,

from what i read and heard about most of the performance comes from pads and SS lines, not too much from rotors. so make sure u invest in some good pads and SS lines. i know u can get goodridge lines from steve for.. 100? 200? not sure.. and like i said before. u cant miss with the endless pads! hehe. NA-M is the ones i had.. never tried any other ones so i cant say if they were worth the $250 a pair.. but no brake dust and sqeaks.. good luck with the brakes!

I don't want to highjack your thread, but I too will be needing new front brakes. I was thinking about the brembo slotted. Any one know if there's any real difference between brembo slotted and rotora slotted. Also, from what I read on previous posts, Axxis deluxe pads sound like a good way to go to avoid squeeks and have minimal dust. Is this still true Would welcome all comments about slotted rotors and brake pad combos
