random issue at Costco pumps (cali)
wondering if anyone else has the same issue as me where the trigger lock on the gas pumps pops prematurely.. it only happens when I fill up at the costco gas stations. i think the vapor recovery boot thing (not sure what it's called) doesn't form a tight enough seal around the neck of the gas filler.
sometimes it gets so bad that I can't get constant gas flow going and i'll have to pull out the pump and reseat it multple times. pretty annoying.
I spoke with one of the station workers and he told me he has seen this happen a lot with lexus cars, and he gave me a tip that angling the pump at a certain direction helps.. but i'm not really sure if it works cause the trigger still pops once in a while.
anyway, am i the only one with this problem? if not, anyone have any tips on what they do?

I get it randomly at costco and shell. Had it happened once at chevron. It also happens when I have around 1/4 tank. When I'm more close to empty I never get it. It's weird. If you search the forums, you'll see that it's common.
Note: gonna try this solution i found on another thread next time i fill up:
My 2019 has this issue too. CostcoGas, Chevron, you name it. Just gotta not put it all the way in and angle it a bit. I've even filled up manually straight in, pushed all way in and it still clicked thinking the tank was full. Angling and not putting it all the way does the trick.
It has to do mostly with the car, and a little with the pump. My wife gets it all the time with her IS, but it rarely happens to me in my 2 hondas. We use the same gas station and pumps next to our home. She finds that one pump in particular works better/more consistently than others, but i don't have any issue with any of them on my cars.

used to happen w/ my 3IS quite a bit, mostly at Chevron. Only at certain pumps. My guess is the 3IS is pretty picky as to the particular condition of the particular pump being used.
My CT200h never has this problem. operates flawlessly everywhere.

Yup happens to me at Costco too and I'm in CA. It's even happened at Chevron. For me Shell is the only gas place where it hasn't clicked early once.
At Costco it happens less if I fill up at the opposite side. Since my tanks on the left side, I would go to the right side station and run the hose over the trunk. This seems to do the trick since it would angle the pump. Not sure why Lexus does not fix it this issue or even address it. Do not enough people complain or what? I even brought it up during my 5k service. Dealer said gas tank is fine.
My other car a 2014 Camry I've filled up at this same Costco for 5 years and never once did it click early.

yeah i've noticed that too, if i go to the opposite side and run the hose over my trunk, i don't get the issue... but i prefer not to do that cause my car is white, and the hose leaves dust marks on the trunk. next time i need to fill up, gonna try what the guy said about not putting the pump all the way in, and angling... i'll let yall know if it works
Happens to me all the time too, what helps for me is to angle the nozzle towards the car and hold it up a bit until it fully fills. I would highly advise against running your hose across the car, as it causes swirls like no other (Obsidian Black owner).
