UPDATE:
My lawyer and I found out that the other driver let his insurance laps, therefore this douche bag was operating a vehicle WITHOUT INSURANCE. I'm going through my insurance under an uninsured motorist claim. In the meanwhile, my vehicle is totaled out and I am currently looking for another car. I'm looking to get a GS350.

A couple of years ago my family and I were hit while in our Highlander. The other driver had neither a valid driver's license nor insurance, so it all went through mine on an uninsured motorist claim. The good side is it goes quickly since they are not working with another insurance agency. The officer told us that he was surprised the other driver even stopped.

And yes, get a GS.
I actually remember you saying that prior to me getting my IS. The IS350 is a great car but as I enter my 40s with the growing kids, I need to get the "grown man" sports car.
I loved my IS. LOVED IT! But I also needed more room so the GS fit my needs perfectly. The GS is still not big, and drives smaller than it is. My GS is my favorite car I've ever owned.

the new LS500 GOES. Its very quick, however the price tag is insane. Has all the room in the world though!
People still consider the GS with the redesigned ES now on the market? The GS is at the end of its life IMO just curious as to why people would pick it over the new ES which is also probably about $8k less and similar size...F Sport gives it a similar sporty looks that the GS has

I just went through this and chose the 19 GS350 over the 19 ES350. The ES, while nice, is still a less expensive car and it shows. Interior materials are not as nice, though it has better tech, if you care about things like the panoramic camera or CarPlay. But the defining difference for me is in the handling. The ES, even in F Sport trim, is still pretty soft and comes with all of the negatives of a FWD layout - torque steer, nose heavy, long overhangs. And AWD is not available, which is important to me.
They've also done some pretty nice updates to the GS along the way.
I'd get an ES hands down. Worlds (leagues) stronger of a chassis/unibody vs the GS. So it'll be way safer. And next generation build quality, manufacturing techniques etc.
As far as your accident i'm glad you are OK. That's a typical front ender though so your survival didn't really have much to do with "toyota safe, toyota build great cars" etc. that's just basically the way any car performs in a frontal crash for decades now. so you'd be fine in just about any car today in that particular crash.
glad the 4 runner hit the total width of the vehicle though and didn't clip the edge cause this particular Lexus, your legs would've been gone or hurt badly had it clipped the edge. Toyota didn't build in very good crash management in shallow angle crashes on this particular gen and MY. 17/18 are better equipped (band aided)
anyway not to go off on a tangent. glad you are OK. Get an ES next time around if you're looking to go bigger. GS is nice, but it's super old at this point, designed around 2010/2011 so it's just much older.
there's plenty of people running around without insurance, be careful. had one guy with lapsed insurance rear end my CT200h. dude likely doesn't have any money or assets so i likely won't get my deductible back.
then two weeks after that, i got hit again. this time worse. my car has been in the shop 33 days and i get it back today finally. can't wait to see how they repaired it.
This is how it looked three days ago. dry fitting a genuine lexus quarter. all nibbed out.

Dang buddy. Its crazy but there always folks who had it worst than others. I'm glad you're OK. I saw the ES350 but I rather have the more aggressive GS350.
Still on the transport truck. Got it from McCall Sewell Lexus in Houston, TX. All cleaned up His and Her's Lexus Squad
A Lexus GS350 F SPORT. I had this delivered last Saturday
