Default Falken Tires

Hi CL members-

I’m planning to put tires on my new wheels. I was looking for something under $800 on tire rack. I found the Falken Azenis for about $650. Are they good? What are your thoughts?

The three brands/tires I see most in that price bracket are:

Falken FK510
Sumitomo HTR ZIII
Hankook V12 Evo

For the Falkens, I found the compound to be the hardest of the 3, which lead to good treadwear, but I always had issues with grip especially when in wet weather.

The Hankook was the softest, and I never had a set that wore evenly for very long. Probably the softest sidewall of the bunch as well.

The Sumitomo tires were the happy medium for me, and the best wet grip too. Easily lasted longer than the hankooks, and the thicker shoulder treads were nice with the inner tire wear issues of the 3IS.

Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for the review. I’ll look into the Sumitomo. Which one do you think would be better for stretching (Falken & Sumitomo) since i will have my tires stretch (225 on 19x8.5 & 255 on 19x9.5). Thanks in advance

That's not too big of a stretch, so either will be fine.

With that being said, I haven't seen any issues with stretched FK510s. I used to run pretty stretched FK453 (Previous generation) with no issues.
