Default Need new windshield

I have a 2015 is 350 F sport. No wiper sensors.

I have a massive crack in my windshield and I need to get it replaced. Dealership said it would be around $700 for a factor windshield thats not branded with Lexus branding ($1300 for branded original windshield).

should I go through Safelight? If going through insurance, will it raise any of my rates?

any help greatly appreciated.

I just had my windshield replaced last week. If I were you go with Lexus brand I had aftermarket and quality wasn’t that good. I paid $1170 and farmers paid $600. It should not raise insurance premium but I do have glass coverage for my premium.

Jesus christ what makes these lexus windshields so expensive? My 2014 camry was only quoted about $300ish for a front windshield.

Glass is only $600 but there are other clips and molding that cost $200 plus labor to install. If you just buy the parts yourself and have a local installer do it you might save yourself $200.

Just the emblem. Back in my BMW days the Pilkington windshield and BMW branded windshield were identical except the logo but the BMW logo windshield was twice the price. Mercedes does the same thing with "Sekurit" "Saint-Gobain" and "Pilkington"

Car industry works that way. you may get a better warranty with the manufacturer emblem and all.

depending on your deductible it's probably cheaper to just pay for it yourself. that was the case for me. i just called a local glass guy to do it. he came to the house and replaced it in no time...$250 installed (non-oem). when it happened (rock bounced up off the road) i called my insurance and told them what happened to get the replacement info. even though i paid for it myself, and didn't use the insurance, that phone call went down as a claim . the quality of the replacement meets dot specs.
