Well, I buy the SYNTHETIC oil myself, and have it replaced by a good friend of mine at his shop so I am 100% it is full synthetic oil.. Here is a link of the engine oil I purchase from BJ's. I'll check the oil at 7k and let you guys know how the engine looks...

Thanks for the input guys. I did a visual inspection of my engine oil today and it still golden with a slight hue of brown. I think I'll wait until 10k to change it.

Hi guys,
My little sister has a 2016 IS 350 F Sport. She needs my help to change the engine oil. I searched online and found two types of oil filter elements, 04152-YZZA3 and 04152-YZZA5. Which one is the correct one? I know my 2013 LS 460 takes 04152-YZZA5. Thanks.

i believe one comes w/ an oil drain kit (plastic tube) and the other does not. someone else can chime in. it doesn't matter which. personally i could do it either way.
as far as intervals. 10k. personally i do it at 7.5k. it's not an exact science and matters little. just don't go past 10k.
as far as what oil, any 0W-20 synthetic will work. amazon brand is supremely grand. making huge headlines. it also has SN plus rating for DI engines.
basically use whatever is cheapest.
These are all supreme and the best bang for your buck.
Walmart supertech is also great. (it's the same as amazon brand but just different label) earth shattering performance. And this is coming from a Mobil 1 arrogant-super-nerd. I now use amazon oil.

I threw away the oil change sticker that the dealership put on my car so I'm not sure what the actual interval is. The infotainment system has the oil change service listed at 10k while the scheduled maintenance reminder light on the instrument cluster is on. These are two conflicting sources of information and I'd really appreciate if someone could chime in.

So if I'm understanding this right - full synethic oil such as Mobile1 or Penzoil that's available off the shelf at Walmart, Target, etc. would still follow the 10k oil change interval, right?

Yes, make sure it's a full synthetic oil and make sure the oil filter you get is rated for 10k miles or higher such as the Mobil 1 "annual protection" (used to be "extended performance") filters.

I would never go past 10k miles I don't care what type of oil they are using. To each their own, but I don't even go over 8.5k miles with full synthetic. Oil isn't expensive enough to try to cheap out on intervals and risk additional wear and/or damage.
