Something just seems weird about all of this. I have an '18 F-Sport, but I don't think it came with an F-Sport filter. I'm trying to figure out what the advantage of buying such a filter is, other than cost over the long haul? Why not just replace the filter with a standard filter? And why would Toyota make an F-Sport filter and not put it on the F-Sport cars? Weird, no?

Everything's an upgrade lol. While I'm sure it's not a massive difference in manufacturing price, the stock paper engine air filter is most likely cheaper.
The F-Sport filter is an OEM part that essentially is a direct drop-in replacement of the paper filter. Also, the F-Sport filter is washable and reusable, unlike the paper filters that you'd have to replace once it gets really dirty.

There is an F-Sport intake as well, right? It uses the same filter, but it's just a different shape? Again, weird? It's just a bit...louder? Cooler looking? I'm missing the point I guess.
Do you have the F-Sport drop-in filter PN?
I guess since the late 80's I've been unconvinced with these oiled filters, they cause some issues on certain vehicles, but I guess not on the IS.

Better airflow too. It’s a high air flow filter. Let’s more air in than paper, but naturally you’re also letting in the smaller micron stuff into your engine most likely. Not an issue obviously since Lexus created it.

But doesn't the computer correct for that? I mean, it's not going to give you any extra HP right? And even if it did, it wouldn't be but a couple, correct?

Yeah you won’t see or feel much of a difference, but technically your engine runs more efficiently. Between the HPS intake tube and my F Sport filter and removing my carbon filter, the car felt a TINY bit more responsive.
