Default Center console movement

does your center console armrest have some play up and down even when it is closed?

not sure if this was a design choice or something is wrong with mine.

Even if it’s closed, Mine can still wiggle up and down ever so slightly.

Mine is rock-solid. It doesn't move at all when closed.

Does your make a moderately loud "click" when closing? It should feel/sound like it is securely clipping itself closed.

While car shopping, I found a 2015 IS250 with that arm rest condition. I found it to be abnormal and it was a deal breaker for me (I knew it would annoy the hell out of me while driving).

The car I purchased was rock solid as well. It now feels like it is getting some play now, though.

I had a 2010 Camry back in the day that developed a similar problem over time. Though it also caused a really annoying rattle when at a cold idle... So I had the dealer fix it after dealing with that issue for a couple of months, lol. So I think it's conceivable that the problem arises when subjected to certain use by drivers.

i believe there is a thread somewhere on here about it, someone put some of that padded tape around a certain area and fixed it.

Sorry, I did not mean to say that it was a manufacturing quality issue when I said it was "abnormal". I agree that it is probably something that arises from user wear and tear.
I personally try to avoid pressing my elbow onto the center console for leverage when getting out of the car. It is quite unfortunate that I have to worry about that in a "luxury" car now that I consider it...

No need to apologize. Even if it was a manufacturing issue, that can happen. My steering column plastic was making all kinds of noise within the first two months of my ownership, on a brand new car.

Either way I'm seeing this seems like a semi-common issue, so I will probably be careful with my center console. 26,000 miles and fingers crossed.

Mine did it. Repaired with a small piece of adhesive foam under the left side corner of the arm rest.
