Default Shifter randomly locked

Hello all. I have 14’ is350 f sport and am experiencing random shift lock. Basically it’s stuck in park until I use the override button. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a fix? Thanks in advance

When this happens, if you step on the brake pedal, do your brake lights come on?

If the brake lights are working, then the fuse for the circuit is good.
The circuit is also what releases the interlock on the shifter.
With the vehicle running in Park, if you put your ear near the shifter and then step on the brake, you should hear a faint click sound. This is the interlock releasing the shifter.
If you don't hear the click, then the shifter should be stuck in Park...if you hear the click, the shifter should be able to be moved out of Park.

If it's working presently, try to hear the click so you know what it sounds like. When it acts up again, then you will know if the interlock released or not.

What should I do to fix it if I don’t hear the clicking?

You'll need to check the interlock itself, and possibly replace it.
So far no one has had a similar issue that I'm aware of, so it's definitely an odd one.
Does the vehicle have any aftermarket electrical accessories? Like a remote starter or alarm.

Here's some info on the shift lock:

I had a radar detector installed hard wired. The problem started shortly after I had the radar installed.

Where did they tap into power and ground for the radar detector?

Where was it hardwired to? I wouldnt think a mirror tap would screw with the shift lock

I dont see your radar causing the issue unless that fuse that the add-a-fuse is on top of happens to be the shiftlock fuse. If it even exists. Is there an actuator or pin in there that has failed and can cause this?

This isn't your lucky day @Pittsy LOL!

The Add-a-fuse is plugged into the spot that was occupied by the 10A IGN No.1 fuse.
The IGN No. 1 fuse powers the Shift Lock Control ECU.

I think we can call this mystery solved.
