Default Black out chrome window molding

I live in a Orange County and I’m looking for a place to take my car to blackout the window moldings. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can anyone provide any recommendations where to take it?

Thanks!

Looks good - did you just vinyl wrap? How difficult was it to get even lines? Looking into this also. Thanks!

Wannaberacer, Nyguen I think was his name.

I spoke to him and hes done work for many people on this forum. I believe he was willing to travel down to San Diego even, but he's located near OC.

I vinyl wrapped my window chromes. took about an hour to an hour and a half. Very easy mod to do if you take your time and use a sharp utility knife!

Where the chrome meets the rubber, did you use knifless tape, wrap over the rubber, or use a blade?

I assume use knifeless tape as I intend but I imagine getting it on a perfect line can take some time.

I use knifeless tape so I can do the cleanest and safest job possible.

It takes some practice and patience and a steady hand to do a clean job. Also takes good technique and a heat gun for the corners. I also post heat as to lock the vinyl in.

I also tinted my own windows.

Having a garage to do this in helps

Gloss wrapped the door pillars... notice how clean.

Everything is alcohol wiped 3x prior to application. all edges, all insides, all corners, all crevices.

I actually used a blade. As long as it's sharp it makes it very very easy. Just be patient with it.

It'll hold up fine. Its sunny 350/365 days here in Arizona so my vinyl is constantly battered by UV and Sunshine all the time. Holds up wonderfully.

If this is your first time doing this or even second or third time, using a blade on where the chrome meets the rubber will certainly cause cuts. You won't notice the cuts until the vinyl is removed. You can cut directly under the chrome trim obviously, but i would not use a blade directly on the rubber. Using knifeless tape also ensures you have a very smooth even line that contours evenly rather than seeing the irregularity and squiggle of your razor cut held by your hand.

And not just any blade. A high end blade. Do not use your home depot razors for this.

Also used a blade on the first time. I don't really have experience with knifeless tape but i'm quite interested. Didnt have any cuts on the rubber either. Not sinking your knife super deep and keeping it at an angle using steady pressure kept me from cutting anything besides the vinyl.

Yeah it's definitely possible, just difficult. So you removed your vinyl to see whether or not you cut the rubber? how would you know? lol. just asking.

blade work is definitely a delicate skill.

Slicing into rubber has a much different feel then slicing through vinyl. on top of that you would see shreds of rubber on the ground. i never cut with my blade at a 90 degree angle, always at like a 20-30 degree angle
