i hit a curb, do i need an alignment?
I hit a curb yesterday while trying to back into a parking spot and scratched up my rear rim a little bit. how do i know if i need an alignment? the roads near me are uneven and pretty awful in LA so it's hard to see if the car is or isnt going to straight since the roads are so bad.
Many dealers offer a free alignment check. The newer buildings are starting to have a drivethrough alignment checker. You wont get exact spec #s but it will show you the graph. You don't have to goto lexus either.
Unless you we’re backing into that curb at 60kph I doubt you damaged anything enough to need an alignment. You likely hit speed bumps faster than you were backing into that spot.
If you’re worried, then by all means, check it out. It likely won’t be out very much unless it’s been a while since your last alignment. I still maintain that unless you hit that curb very hard and I mean at a significant speed, your alignment being out likely wouldn’t have been caused by that hit.

Yeah backing into a curb isn't cause for concern unless you were trying to do stunts for a movie. you're fine. Suspension parts can take pressing up against a curb or rubbing up against it. easy. it's crashing into stuff or hitting stuff at high speed--violent shocks is what bends them.
as said, if it worries you, get it checked.

Alignment checks are free, but I paid about $110 for an alignment at my dealer. Your price will probably be different.

Hitting the curb while backing up shouldn't affect alignment that much. I've had alignment issues from having to deal with potholes but bumping into a curb here or there hasn't caused anything significant.
