How is that Impressive? A V6 Camry can do that much cheaper.
A Camry can make more efficient use of its power than a RWD car due to a smaller driveline path (front wheel drive) but as a result, you'll pay a weight and performance penalty. Over 60% of its weight is over the front wheels.
So the takeaway is 0-60 in less than 6 seconds (similar to v6 camry yes) but better fuel economy, worlds better dynamics and stability and without the stigma of owning a camry.
It's nonsense to mention a Camry in the same breath of a RWD sports sedan so I had to respond. By that argument, you can compare a Camry to a 3IS... which begs the question, why didn't you buy a Camry instead of your 3IS? The fastest 3IS (the IS350) runs the same or slower than a V6 Camry.
Pretty bland if you ask me, especially for a complete redesign. It will sell well just as all 3 Series do, but I'm more looking forward to a revised C Class, IS (if they do actually make one), and even a mid-cycle refresh of the A4. Although I see my next vehicle being more along the lines of an M5 or E63S.
That's the base model. Sport model pics probably coming soon. BMW has never been wild in their styling especially for the 3. Their design MO throughout generations is stay conservative, evolve, and keep resale value high. They don't have to try that hard in this segment because they invented it. The engineering and reputation is what keeps the faithful coming back. It's kind of like Coke. The recipe doesn't need changing cause, it's well, Coke.

They've already shown the sport models. Still nothing to write home about. Anyways I agree with you. They will sell well with their evolutionary models.

I don't like it. Everybody has their opinion, but to me it's pretty boring. When I was looking for my car this past April, I looked at Audi's, BMW's, Acura's and everything in between, but only Lexus had the most exotic design (compared to the other's) and the reliability factor helped a lot. In retrospect, I should have bought a BMW and then taken that with me to Germany since that's BMW land lol. I have always hated BMW's though because they are boring and everybody has one and the reputation for repairs turned me off instantly. If you lease cars all the time then yeah it's not a bad deal.
As a fan of the 3-Series since the E46 lol i feel like they went too conservative? They rounded the body too much for my taste.. I especially dislike the use of chrome on the fog lights/rear bumper near reflectors.
Really like what they've done with the odo though.. I know its a rip of Audi but its at least moving forward..
Do you think Lexus is watching this new 3 series release uncovered and making any changes or cues to the new IS redesign (interior or exterior) or do you think Lexus already has the new IS redesigned by now?
So many people on the BMW forums are saying the rear of the new 3 series looks like a Lexus. It's funny reading their comments.
Not impressed, but I'm sure they'll sell a lot and in a couple years you'll see lower income people driving them around since the resale value will tank.
