Default Random Warning Lights

I purchased a 2016 IS 300 AWD F Sport about a month an a half ago. I love it so far, but a few times random warnings have popped up while I've been driving. The two that I've seen have been "Check BSM" and "Check AWD System." They always go away as soon as I turn the car off and turn it back on, and the car seems to be functioning just fine.

I'll bring it up next time I take the car to the dealer, as the car still has plenty of warranty left, but I was wondering if anyone else had seen these random warnings that pop up and then go away once you turn the car off and turn it back on, and if they were something I need to get looked at ASAP. Or, am I ok putting off having anything looked at until I go to the dealer for my next service?

If you have a code reader, try to see if any codes are logged? They are usually not cleared once set and must be explicitly cleared. Also, its not normal for such codes to fire so often. I would definitely take it in and have them look at it.

I don't have a code reader but can pick one up. Any decent ODB2 scanner should do the trick, right?

Actually dont spend the money on this at all. Instead go to a parts store (Advance auto or orielly or others). They all scan codes for free. The reason is that their scanners are more adept at providing info rather than a cheap scanner that does not understand the lexus codes.

If there is a code for the BSM system it won't show on a basic OBD2 scanner as it's not related to the powertrain. You will need the Techstream software for that.
The AWD system, if any codes exist, should show up with an OBD2 scanner.

Some codes do clear with a key cycle, and some do need to actually be cleared.
Don't be surprised if Lexus scans the vehicle and everything returns as normal. It's not to say it didn't happen, just that there are no codes present at the time it was scanned.
