Default CF Spoiler Fitment Issues

Hey guys. I got a CF spoiler with fitment issues. Both right and left edges have a gap that the 3M tape doesn't reach and the long edge facing the front of the car has also a gap where the tape doesn't reach the surface of the trunk. However the tape along the edge of the trunk touches without issues. Anyone with recommendations on getting the tape to actually touch the surface?

I had it mounted for a few days and didn't like seeing leaves and other stuff get stuck between the gap. I was thinking of putting another layer of 3M tape but it looks like I would need another layer on top of that to mount it perfectly but there will be a noticeable gap. Probably a stupid question but am I able to heat up the spoiler and reshape it a little bit to make it fit better?

Dont think you can heat up and reshape CF.. it would most likely damage it.

What kind of 3M tape is that? Looks super thick..

Also, clean your trunk lol

Maybe I'm not understanding the issue but can you just cut the tape to get full coverage

Yes sir. Dry fitting round 2 since I don't want to redo an installation.

Rain has been on and off this whole week and doesn't help when parking at work is all out doors. 3M tape is from Home Depot and this was rated for outdoor use but it isn't that thick.

You don't quite understand, I can cut the tape but that doesn't help with coverage at all.

I think I understand what you're saying. The gaps at the end of the spoiler, between the trunk lid and the spoiler are too large for one layer of tape to fill and stick to the trunk.
You think that you would have to double up the tape to fill the gap and get the spoiler to stick to the trunk.
I don't think you can heat the carbon fiber to make it flexible as it should have been heat treated already.

Would simply putting the single layer and then pressing the ends down allow it to touch the trunk and stick?
Is the spoiler really that rigid that it has no give at all?

I guess one possible solution is 3 types of tape thicknesses...thin for the rear trunk edge of the spoiler, thick for the front trunk edge of the spoiler, and super thick for the ends...of course that's not really a good solution at all.
Maybe get another spoiler from the company?

You could remove the tape altogether and use silicon adhesive - you'd have to let it cure for 24 hours. That's what i've done in the past but this is a more permanent attachment obviously.

I think the problem is they used a very thick double sided tape.

You are correct! I'm just going to dispute the defects and get my money back and go with a better warehouse that can supply a better "fit" for the spoiler. Already getting issues with the seller asking the same questions that I answered before making the purchase and verifying fitment. Probably a bad batch but don't like it when they ghost for more than a day. I have tried finding thicker 3M tape but Hawaii is very limited in selection even at Home Depot.

I thought the tape was thick so I removed it entirely and get the same fitment issues with no tape to see if it was the tape. Will just try to get a refund on this and getting the seller to pay for shipping back to them if they want it back.
