Default Manual anyone?

Anyone drives in manual most of the time?

If yes, would it be bad for the gearbox?

I like driving in Manual, but I am not sure the long term effects of doing so.
Please advise

If you shift around where the gearbox would normally shift, then I see no harm in that.
Ofcourse over very long period of time, you might wear out the shifter or the paddles, but I'd say it's absolutely nothing you would need to think about now.

+1, I don't think it's going to be particularly bad for anything. That is, unless you are driving in low gears all the time, or downshifting a lot when the transmission is still cold... As long as you have the car properly warmed up I would say your risk of doing damage is pretty low.

I drove my 2001 300 in manual about 50/50 from 2009-2018. I was relatively delicate, but horsed around a decent amount. Transmission and engine never had so much as a hiccup. She's still going strong, although a bit neglected these days...

I always drive my car in manual I have straight pipe so I like to be able to switch gears at higher rpms. I don’t think it will harm the car though

This isn't really "manual" driving since the transmission still protects you from going too slow in too high a gear. I only use the manual mode when I am going downhill - for engine braking. Apart from that I decided the transmission controller does the shifting quite well (and lot faster) so why bother to override it. If I need a true "manual"-clutch experience I hop into my 2001 BMW Z3 roadster.

I agree with this. I don’t use manual mode the shifts feel rough compared to the smooth auto shifts. Going into sport mode is enough for me. I have my manual Toyota Celica for real manual driving haha.

Love the feeling of cruising in a low gear though as the acceleration is a lot more instant.

I have been annoyed with the "Manual" mode shifting for me, why bother? is there a way to make this car a true manual experience?

Get yourself a car with manual transmission then you can have the 'true' manual experience.

It isn’t what I “got” it is what cars got.
if the car is in manual and shifting against your will - it is trying to protect transmission or the engine from your crude gear selections. Perhaps it is time to learn to drive manual.
