these automotive shops are still open because they're getting around via a loophole that all things automotive related should remain open, but they are definitely not essential. that said, i'm glad i'm giving these businesses some money because each one has been completely dead and absolutely completely willing to work around my schedule to ensure that i can make it in.

edit: does your exhaust make noise allllllll the time, or just when accelerating? i've never put an aftermarket exhaust on my previous cars because i daily them of course, but they're also my commuters to work and that loud noise in the cabin, or any loud noise in the cabin for that matter, would drive me insane at 6am when i leave for work.
ha I didnt know they had that feature on the 2.0t lexus too. I would turn that off day 1 too and I haven't even heard it.

And car repair shops are not on a loop hole, they are deemed essential businesses. Since well agree a hospital is essential, right, well the hospital personnel need their cars to run too.

But a PPF or tint shop? Yeah maybe not so essential if thsts all they do lol.

yep, that's the loophole that i'm referring to -- tint shops, ppf shops, and wheel shops are open where i live as they are 'essential' service providers. they clearly aren't, but that's how they are rationalizing remaining open and there hasn't been any enforcement with these shops because perhaps they also work alongside bodyshops which are definitely essential? who knows.

Nah, it’s not super loud. I mean you can definitely hear it when accelerating but when cruising it’s just a little louder than stock.

Our state has done hardly any enforcement at all is the problem. The governor still trusts people will follow the rules, he says this in response to 1000s of people and businesses not following the rules

yeah, that said, our infectious rate is lower than other states with populations that rival ours, e.g., new york, texas, florida., and that's because most non-essential businesses are indeed closed -- malls, restaurants (save for take-out), clothing shops, non-essential factories, etc. the shops that i went to to have my new car worked on had their doors locked, but when i called to make an appointment, they gladly took me because they aren't receiving any money and they do have to pay their bills. even though those stimulus checks are supposed to be rolled out within three weeks of around now according to mnuchin, the government never works quite quickly enough nor does it provide enough to sufficiently allow for humane living conditions. there are going to be a lot of people who are going to lose their businesses over this and a whole lot of employees who are going to or have already been laid off.

anyhow, i think newsom is afraid that people are going to turn against him more than they already have if he imposes a serious crackdown akin to that seen in italy and spain where it'd be perceived as just a step shy of martial law. the temecula border patrol station is open on I15 N and that station hasn't been open in years. they are stopping every single car to ask where you live and where you are going. that's a bit scary. i had to go to vista yesterday and went through the station which took forever.

I had my IS up on jacks this weekend painting the calipers. While it was up I gave one of my front tires a spin, and it slowed to a stop way faster than I thought it should. I didn't think too much of it until after it was down, so I didn't do the same to the other side. Brakes were not on and I didn't hear any rubbing noises. I'm not expecting it to free-wheel like a bike tire, but I would think it should spin freely for more than a few seconds. I'm due up for the 30k service, is there anything that I should have them look more closely at, or am I just imagining things? I know that's not much to go on, but I figured I'd ask. 2018 350, RWD, 30k miles, bought it L-Certified 4 months ago at 26k miles.

I'm going to assume your vehicle is RWD as if it was AWD you wouldn't have been able to spin the tire at all.
Given the weight of the wheel and the resistance of the bearing, and also how much force you spun it with, you might have gotten two rotations before it stops, which isn't a long time.
Doesn't sound like you have an issue.

No...the throttle body is on the other side of the engine in the area behind the Alternator.
It sits horizontally beside the engine block whereas most non-forced inductions engines it would sit vertically somewhere at the top of the engine.

Okay, maybe this a dumb question, perhaps not, but I'm posting it here anyhow -- is using Loctite on wheel spacers with nuts a bad idea? I don't want to worry about checking them every x amount of miles. I just want them to stay on and remain on. Or would this get in the way of changing the rotors?

I used it on the bolts to attach the spacers to the rotors, and a guy with a power ratchet was able to get them off without trouble. Was a matter of peace of mind for me, just don't get the heavy-duty stuff.

Use the blue Loctite, not the red.

@ @Flash5 do you have any links or articles to said research? Thanks!!

Did a fresh 4 wheel alignment mitigate &/or minimize this issue? Thanks!!
