It has only come on about 4 times since I got the car last October. So, no, I'm not tail-gating anyone at all, it's just an idiot system that makes calculations based on speed and trajectory. The reason I want it turned off is that by the time it comes on there is no time left to react, so it's useless IMO.

Mine is triggered by signs on medians, especially on curving roads. While reducing range might help, if it's still the same sensitivity it will likely keep tripping, no? To avoid it freaking out I have to "wander" a bit in my lane, so the nose doesn't point too much toward them.

Mine is usually triggered by someone pulling over, and I speed up and pull around them. I suppose the front camera can still see the car, and when I accelerate it sees an issue, not knowing the car is moving off the road. That's been at least twice. Junk nanny. All of this stuff is for people that just don't pay attention, and I'm not one of those people. 0 accidents to my credit in 32 years of driving.

I guess everyone's experience is different. My IS doesn't have PCS, but I have driven Toyota's with it.
I couldn't get the system to activate short of driving the car at a brick wall.
And it really is meant to come on at the very last second, giving the driver every opportunity to take action first.

Increasing the range should alleviate some of it.
There also may be a fuse that you can pull to permanently disable the system...of course that's at your own risk.

The other day I had to stop fairly short, but it never went off. The BSM is great, but would rather have the corner parking alert than this thing.

It's like airbags, the only real reason they exist is because of people who don't use seatbelts. Now there's so many they nearly have to write off your car after an accident because of how expensive they are to replace -- clearly somebody in the industry was very successful in lobbying.

Yeah, that'd be better, I'm paying attention, so it just bugs me when it goes off. If I can't disable it I'll pull the fuse.

Chrome Delete question, i'm seeing majority seem to wrap, has anyone just sprayed the trim pieces black? was it a pain to remove? did you just mask off and paint?

Just wrap it. Today's gloss vinyl looks extremely good. and i have a very very high standard to even make such a statement. i was an anti-vinyl snob before.. but technology has gotten better. get vvivid brand.

do not paint. that's all kinds of problems waiting to happen from breaking stuff to peeling later, and resale value taking a hit. just wrap. cheap, looks great, and reversible. for a mod, you can't ask or much more.

That's dead wrong. In a lot of cases the airbags won't go off if you don't wear the seat belt since they in those cases might break your neck.

I've heard some negative feedback about the Vvivid vinyl in the last little while.
3M and Avery also have solid reputations for their vinyl.

Perhaps now, but just as the sensor to turn them off on the passenger side came later that's not the way they were originally, nor the original reason they were mandated.

Airbags are designed as part of the restraint system which includes pre-tensioners and load limiters and the vehicle structure itself. It's a package.

They are designed to slow you down slowly. They offer little to no protection in the event you don't wear your seatbelt.

I'm new and looking for an IS 300 F-Sport. I've only found ONE vehicle locally with the Mark Levinson Premium Audio package. Does anyone know why models are not being outfitted with this option now? A sales guy at a dealership I am in contact with confirmed with me that it is the only IS 300 in the Western Region currently that has that option.

Maybe it's supply and demand.
In Canada we rank our F Sport models by Series...Series 1, 2, and 3.
Series 3 is the fully equipped one with the ML audio.
However, because the Series 2 is so well equipped already, not everyone is willing to spring for the extra money for the Series 3 if they are not really in need of the extra features.
The Series 1 is the base without Navi even, so you'll find a lot of folks pay for the Series 2 as a happy middle ground.
