Default New Car

Hi Everyone,

Purchased an IS300 AWD F-Sport last week, and love it! I have been following the club lexus way before my purchase, alot of good info and potential mods I may steal. Just a few questions:
  • Being my first luxury car, any tips or recommended cleaning items (interior and exterior)
  • Any suggestions for my first mods?
  • Also where would I be able to get blacked out emblems
  • Where do y'all keep your phone??

Welcome, and congrats! I've got an IS 300 AWD F Sport as well and have been loving it.

As for the phone question - there's a huge thread on that where you could get ideas: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...our-phone.html

For cleaning items, probably going to mostly be your standard-issue things. Some leather cleaner would only be needed for the actual leather items, like the steering wheel rim. I mostly just use Rain-X brand car wash solution and clean the interior with damp cloths. For just under two years of ownership that I have been through, that has been doing fine.

I know I have seen threads on blacked-out emblems before, maybe you could even find some on Ebay, etc... But since I mostly like to keep cars stock, I can't say I would be a good source of input on mods.

I mainly use chemical guys products for the exterior of my IS. For the leatherette (vinyl) I use Lexol vinyl protectant and for the dash 303 aerospace protectant. For my phone, I have the non navigation 7” screen so my car actually has a little slot where the nav mouse scroller usually is at. As for mods well there are plenty lol just read all the posts. Congrats on the new ride and welcome!

I had these on my BRZ and didn't notice any change. They are an expensive cosmetic upgrade imo.

for a 4 door sedan it adds ridigity to more open sections of the body making it improve.

I don't know why you guys bothered with DOORS why not upgrade Engine Exhaust and Suspension ? RR-Racing got the TUNE, ARK got the exhaust and AIR Suspension !
RR-RACING Chip Tune is one of the accuracy tuned for Lexus IS
ARK Exhaust i would say one of the nicest exhaust system ever made for Lexus IS ( Other brands looks RICE and it reminds me of Honda old days )
Air Suspension of course, go big or don't go nowhere

not everybody have a taste for a loud bark out the tail pipe. Some people just like the nice quality ride. tiny tastefully mods can go a long way.

The same claim was made amongst the BRZ/FRS crowd. I bought into it, and didn't notice a bit of difference (other than a nicer looking door striker). If you feel it worked for your car, good for you.

the bone stock IS is firmed and smoothed already Dave, the Doors mod won't be noticed, look he asked to black out Emblem, that means the Man is loving the mod IS is a Sport car a sport without Loud muffler or visual mod is not a sport, if your car is an F-sport people don't expect it to be like a Lexus ES or a Toyota Camry.

some good and easy to get products are meguairs. Chemical guys and griot garage. I use voo doo ride, the 3 in 1 polish is very good. Car soap I use something with a surface lubeurciant like chemical guys mr. pink or megs gold class, this make washing and claying the car one step. I use polymer rubber pads to clay the car, it’s fast and effective. I don’t wax my car I use sealant only. Waxing the ultra white can sometime lead to a yellowish tint to the white paint. Good luck.

  • Being my first luxury car, any tips or recommended cleaning items (interior and exterior)
I keep miguiars (spelling?) products in my car and apply bi-weekly on all interior surfaces. My seats are real leather (idk if f-sport is too) and I like to keep them conditioned to avoid excess wear. Just had it buffed, waxed, and polished yesterday . If your car is brand new...imo I would get a sealant or clear wrap on the front bumper (too late for me).
  • Any suggestions for my first mods?
My first I think was full LED conversion for interior/doors. 10x better.
Invidia q300 exhaust simply enhances what I think is already a great sounding car. Not a rice sound at all nor rice look imo.
  • Also where would I be able to get blacked out emblems
Any local vinyl wrapping shop should have options. I did plasti-dip with gloss finish done myself. Everyone liked it but wasn't what I wanted so i removed it. It's a cheap and easily reversed option (does not have to look cheaply done if you're careful). Plan to put a light tinted wrap over my front emblem ...and chrome black emblems on rear.
  • Where do y'all keep your phone??
Mine is placed just above the far left vent, best option I found for me. Attached to a magnetic mount which extends from the windshield.

Congrats and welcome here.

2nd - exhaust
3rd - suspension
4th - carbon fiber pieces
5th - wheels

It all depends on your own style choices, and what's important to you. Me personally, I like the car as it sits, although I think it does need a spoiler. Maybe black out the chrome trim, some nice wheels. My first mod on my car was a dash cam. I have one on my other car, I really wanted one for this.

as for cleaning, I use some chemical guys stuff. Leather cleaner, leather conditioner, until recently I used the citrus wash and clear, now I use obsesssed auto wash. P21s for wax, sonax brilliant shine detailer, invisible glass for windows. All my glass on the outside has been treated with aquapel. Wheels coated with car pro cquartz dlux, carpets treated with gtechniq smart fabric. Think that covers it lol
