Switch for engine Sound Generator?
I was scanning through 3IS video reviews yesterday. I believe it was a 2018 IS350 that had
a switch for the Sound Generator? Is it on/off or loud/louder?
Sometimes the Canadian/Euro versions of the 3IS have slightly different features.
Is this switch standard for US 2018 IS300? IS350? I don't think I have the switch on my 2017 IS300 Fsport.
I haven't looked carefully yet :-).

"Active Sound Control" was added to only the IS300 RWD (formerly IS200t) for the 2018 model year. It is not an intake sound generator, but rather simulated engine sounds pumped in through the speakers. It has a switch with volume control.

My 2018 IS 350 F-Sport does not have any engine sounds pumped thru the speaker.
I have a mechanical device which pushes the intake sound thru the firewall in my engine bay.

Yup the 18” 300 has the ASC that allows you to increase/decrease or completely turn off the fake engine noise coming from the speakers. The 350 has a switch to allow more REAL engine noise into the cabin.

It doesn't do anything extra in those modes. The intake sound generator is a purely mechanical baffle mounted to the intake with no settings, variability, or on/off switch. You'll hear it most when you get above about 4200 rpm. It's just easier/quicker to get to 4200 rpm in Sport or Sport+ mode.

No, it's entirely dependent on your engine speed and throttle position. I have never noticed a volume difference between Normal and Sport. I must admit I have never given it the beans in Eco mode though.

LMAO I bet in ECO the entire firewall comes off so you can hear every bit of engine noise in the cabin.

I should connect one of these turbo whistles to the intake noise generator thing on my car to see if it works :P. Wonder if there is enough air out of it to make it whistle

Here is a link that explains the two:

I have a 2017 IS 300 and it does not have the fake speaker with the switch. My brother in law has a 2017 350 RC and it does have the ASC switch. It is kind of fun and produces a louder sound than my IS does.

For whatever it's worth, which is probably little, I prefer the ISG over the ASC. It's not digital...
