Launch control?
Hey guys, I've looked and searched on these threads and haven't been able to find a clear answer. Is there a launch control setting on the 2017 IS 200t? Or any other way for a take off on the line? Sorry for the dumb question or if it's already been cleared and answered. Just not crazy or impressed on the take off and the infamous turbo lag. 😒

Best way to launch control the 2017 IS200T is to put your foot on the gas as soon as the light turns green and drive that car straight to your nearest Lexus dealership to get an IS350.

Welcome to Club Lexus.
No launch control on the IS. There are many threads on the delayed throttle response on the IS - and some throttle controllers that attempt to address it. Best way to "launch" is just to punch it (on the non-turbos at least) not sure if there's a way to build boost prior to "launch" for the turbos - turbo owners can chime in and advise best on that. Drive safe.

launch control mostly available in Super or Exotic cars, Lexus IS is just a Luxury performance car. 1 Performance 2, high-performance 3 Supercar 4 Exotic
Car that has Launch control = Nissan GTR Lambo Ferrari Mustang GT/Shelby GT350 Dodge Hellcat/Demon Mclarren Lexus LFA, Cadillac ATS-V , Lexus LC500 Lexus RC-F GS-F
Maybe drive to dealership and trade in for an RC-F or LC500 then you'll get the launCh control option
300HP and 277 ft-tp on Lexus IS350 is too weak for a launch control or LSD option.

Well to be fair, you even get launch control on diesel BMWs and Audis, so it's not about power, but rather just a choice of the manufacturer.
Launch control will put huge stress on a lot of components, so even if I'd have it, I'm not sure I would use it.

You can brake hold for a second before taking off and it will build a bit of boost but Lexus seems to limit how much boost the engine can produce in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. It does take of more aggressive that way but its still slower than the 350.

Thanks for everyone's responses. A 350 would've been nice but I couldn't pass up on the deal of this 200t. Didn't realize how bad the turbo lag is though now that I'm driving it more. A stronger launch would be nice but we can only dream. Wish there was a 6-speed option.

It reminds me of the GTR when it first came out. Owners whine and complain that they can only use the system a couple of times before the system locks\disable the launch control system. I think some owners sign a wavier to disable the lockout and that Nissan is not liable if the transmission failed due to the launch control system.

Launch control destroys transmissions. Just because the computer is doing a neutral drop instead of you doesn’t change the Physics of what’s happening when you run your rpm’s up and slam the fly wheel and torque converter together.
