Default Traction control off and check engine light on

I'm taking the car to the mechanic tomorrow, but I just wanted to know if anyone here is familiar with my situation.

I filled the car up with gas and drove back home. I got out of the car and filled my car tires up with some air due to low air pressure. In the middle of it, the check engine light came on. Once I finished filling my tires with some air, I noticed that the words "traction control off" were on the f sport cluster, but the yellow traction control light was not on. I tried pressing/holding the traction control button but it seems to be permanently off on my car. Any ideas? I went to two auto zones to get an OBD reading and none of them could print out the codes for the check engine light...

If the 3is is anything like the 2is in terms of how the CEL works, when it comes on for any reason, it seems to disable the traction control. Since it happened after you filled your tank, one of two things comes to mind. 1. You didn't tighten the gas cap well which can cause a CEL after driving for a bit. OR 2. You topped off too much and fouled the purge valve in the neck of the tank. This usually causes other problems like the smell of gas and possibly a drip-leak around the rear driver's side.

Thanks for the response! I did retighten the gas cap and the check engine light is still on. If I did put too much gas, do you think the problems will go away after driving a little bit more?

If it was the gas cap, it takes 50-100 miles to reset the check engine light. Just keep driving.

If it was the gas cap, it should. If you topped off and you shouldn't in these cars, maybe after it dries out.
