My factory license plates lights have gone out. Can anybody tell me how to replace those without going through the dealer. 2014 is250 f sport

Both are out? If I'm not mistaken they're LEDs so it's pretty strange both have burned out. Check all the fuses and rule that out.

 

sidetrack question, if any lights goes out, is there any warning lights to let you know? In euro cars they do like in my benz and audi, the dash will pop up a icon or message telling you.

 

You’re correct both are LEDs, my had one gone after 3 months when I bought the car they replaced both under warranty according to them there was a batch defected, no issues after that. You should contact the dealer and ask them to replaced them under warranty if you still are.

 

My Volvo did the same thing but I think the Toyota\Lexus system only warns when the tail light is out. Not any of the headlights, side marker lights or the license plate light.

 

I believe you take off the trunk liner to access the wires. The part of the trunk where the lights are can be taken off. Trunk is two separate pieces.
