Hello everyone, so long story short I somehow broke or damaged the spiral cable unit behind the steering wheel when I was installing my new DCTMS wheel. Took it to the dealership to have it looked at because I was getting Check BSM, PCS, SRS and trac control error lights. And also the turn signal wouldn't reset after making a full turn. They're charging for $1400 for replacement of that part.. sounds like a lot to me because if I'm looking at the right part online it looks to be under $200..thoughts? Should I go to another shop?

Not really sure what's going on as what you're giving is very vague but...
If they have to replace a wiring loom, then you are most definitely paying for a lot of hours re running wiring. They could also try repairing the wires by just splicing...
Wouldn't hurt to get a quote somewhere else, since it's not a warranty issue.
My best guess is that based on what he was installing, and various stuff like turn signal being a pain, is that he broke the clock spring, what he’s calling a “spiral cable”. Now I don’t know for sure on these cars as I don’t have any experience nor have I actually looked into it yet but it’s possible that with the replacement of the clock spring that you’ll need some programming. I know on some vw Tiguan that with the replacement of the clock spring that you’ll need to recode the new module to make it work properly. As well as possibly reinitializing the steering angle sensor which is likely part of the clock spring.
You could always go to go to another shop you trust for a second opinion. Only thing it’ll cost you is diagnostic time
this is only my best guess based on available information given.
Sounds like you broke the clock spring.did it happen while you were tugging the steering wheel off??? Seems to happen a lot when changing steering wheels.
Did it look like this? Not my pic but this happened to someone else who changed their steering wheel.
I believe the clock spring with steering sensor sells for somewhere between $350-400 at myLparts.
Yes the clock spring! Anywho, I got a quote from another shop and it was only a little less than what Lexus was charging so I just had my Lexus service advisor order the part..which was about $700 and they installed it today. Everything is back to normal now thanks for all the answers and Happy Holidays!
