Were you running regular or prem?

Yes. Always do. Just won't use 76 gas I guess. I really doubt that even a lesser octane would of caused that message, but that what Lexus said caused it...

i'f think that they're lying to you. either way, they don't know the cause or don't want to tell you the cause.

I know different engine, but this happened to me a few years ago and the car went into limp mode. I restarted it and drove it to the dealership and the only stored code they could find was a misfire. They said it was also bad gas. It hasn’t happened since.

It could be a bad batch that the station received. It could have been worst. A while back, a grocery store was found to have water in their tanks. A lot of folks had to have their engines replaced.

Unfortunately some gas station owners do not maintain their pumps or tanks, which could lead to the issues you experienced. I was told that a good indicator of a bad gas station is slow flow rate; this could mean the filters are very clogged with contaminants. I wouldn't rule out all 76 gas stations, but I definitely would not use that particular station again.

my car bought 2 years old used from I guess Off Lease, performance was poor and sluggish, I did a fast tune up and dumped 2 bottles of Lexus OEM Fuel injectors in the tank, clean Throttle body MAF sensor, update NAV system and ECU, car drives like Brand new ever since ! I update ECU because the gear shift jerked and it wasn't suppose to be like that. Every car of mine only Eat good foods, TOP GAS (SHELL), TOP Synthetic Engine Oil (mobil 1) and OEM Tune Up.

Are you using 87 or 91+? I wouldn't go the 87 route. Even though these engines have knock-sensors, it doesn't change the fact that they're direct injected and high compression.

They said that the code was not using high enough octane. I think something else is wrong. All I ever use is premium octane since 1989. My 2010 Lexus never had this problem, and it gets filled up at the same stations as the 2017. I guess I will add octane boost going forward...

Go to autozone or somewhere that reads codes and post it up. Without knowing the code we can't troubleshoot the issues.

Have you tried a different station? Stay at the new station for a month or two and see if the issue comes up. Like I've said before, it could be that the station received a bad batch of gas.

My Ex-wife has been putting regular 87 in the IS. Since mine is a lease I didn't care. She never came across this issue.

I lease too. Just a hassle to go back to dealer and have them reset.
