I have a 2014 IS250 (bought it in April 2017). About a month ago I started getting the "Maintenance Required Soon" light. I'm about 30 days past my next due oil change service so I figured that's what this light is for. Once I started the car, the light would disappear. Today, however, I received the "Maintenance Required" (no longer includes "soon") light, and it hasn't disappeared.

Does this happen even if all that's needed is an oil change? Or does this mean there's something more serious needed?

 

When you are coming up due for service, like an oil change, the light will first come on just for the first 30 seconds or so after starting the car, then extinguish. If you continue without resetting it, it eventually changes to staying on the whole time. So yes, this is more than likely only about the oil change.

 

It stays on for stupid things like the 35k maintenance that is nothing but inspections too. You can reset it in your settings to get rid of the annoying notice.
