I understand the maps/navigation isn't updated as frequently as our phones for example. But, is there a website where I can update the maps on the Lexus? In Cleveland, we finally have the inner belt bridge completed and the exits on the map are slightly off which causes it to think I'm on a road under the bridge until I get to the point where it actually is on the map. I mean, if there isn't any updates, it isn't a problem but I was just wondering if anyone here knows of anything.
I believe they are updated every year but you need to pay for it. You can search for cost but I think it a couple of hundred bucks which for me its not worth it. I just use my phone which is better interface.
It's normally a year or two out on any road completion to show up in the map's database. It probably won't show up in the next year's update. I think it's under $200 for a map update.
It's $200 Canadian for the map update and they are available every Fall. How accurate and up to date is another question.
They are actually out earlier for the new production year, but for retail they usually come out in Fall.
There should be one coming out soon, but as far as I know, 86271-78013 is the most current one for our vehicles.
No. I've asked. At the time, I was working as an LTS. There's something on the SD card that prevents it from being used in another vehicle. My guess, the nav system writes a onetime "code" on the SD card and checks it at startup.
It's the same thing trying to copy a new map SD card to a blank SD card. Some sort of protection is in place.
Recently I acquired a micro SD Map card from a 2017 Sienna (total loss collision), which uses the same SD card as my 2014 Highlander.
I put the card in, it loaded, and viola, my Highlander is now up to date to production 2017 navigation map data.
I've heard they can't be used in another vehicle after they are installed the first time, but clearly that didn't happen here.
Now I'm on the lookout for one for my Lex.
