Congrats on the new car!

In my 2016 IS 300, which has the same engine as the 350, there is some vibration at idle in two scenarios:
  • when the car is cold-started and is idling high
  • when I am stopped at a light and the AC compressor and heater are completely turned off, which reduces the idle to about 600 RPM.
It's been like that as long as I can remember. Do these situations describe what you're running into, or is it something else?

Thank you very much for reply Arentz 07 , I would say the cold-started and idling high , and I dont recall happen when im stopped at a light and AC off , did you have chance to bring back to dealer to look at it ? I called Lexus for Diagnose but they will charge me $120 something per hour lol , well I just step into the other shop they cant detect anything from the computer , so I really dont know if i just leave it or Lexus will look up for this with no cost ... lol but its kinda annoying sometime

I haven't done so, since it hasn't seemed like the car was broken or anything But, AFAIK there was a TSB to raise the idle on the car to eliminate the roughness? Maybe someone else on the forum can chime in. Honestly it doesn't bother me because it's once in a blue moon I actually notice this.

I can confirm that what you're experiencing is normal. I have a 2015 IS350, and when I first started experiencing that I thought i had bad engine mounts (dealer checked them for me as a courtesy).
Turns out our engine just isn't a morning person.
Nothing to worry about.

Based on my experience with direct injection engines, I think these vibrations seem to be normal despite how un-Lexus like they feel. I get the same vibrations. Feels like there is misfire, but I remember experiencing these same vibrations in Kia fully-direct Injected engines (our IS350s are half direct and half port injection).

2016 is350 here and i get the vibrations too. Happens every few seconds during idle and even after the engine is warmed up. Revs dip slightly when it happens. Its noticable especially after driving a renault megane which you couldnt tell the engine was turned on.

Anyone concerned with their 3IS vibrating is free to borrow my '97 4Runner for a week. That will definitely reset your vibration meter.
