Question about the LCD display- At one point I chose to TURN OFF DISPLAY on the the LCD while on a long trip.
How do you turn it back ON to Stay On?
When I choose a particular output- like FM radio, it shows for about a minute and defaults back to the Display option screen, and only option I get is to turn DISPLAY off.

 

I wonder if this is due to the auto screen switching setting?

If you go to Setup -> General, there is an option to automatically switch the screen (can't remember the exact text at the moment). I would say try turning that option off.
