Default Stock rims peeling?

Hello there. I was washing my car today and noticed the front passenger side rim started peeling. I don't know if this is the paint, clearcoat, build up brake dust or what? Does anyone have this problem? My car is a 2014 IS250 (non-F Sport).

Have the wheels ever been refinished? Are you the original owner?
It kinda looks like the paint is coming off. Maybe a pic with a little more light might help to identify it.

hi, i have a 2014 f sport and have also been having a problem with the wheels, but in my case, the wheel paint is actually bubbling instead of peeling. I feel like since most 3rd gen is are still under warranty, you should try to bring it in and have them handle it. I also read on a couple of other forums that this is a common problem among Toyota wheels especially the Toyota Sienna and Tundra. In most cases, the dealership just replaced the wheel and I feel like this might be the case as well.

Multiple of my rims have this on my f-sport. My car is a certified pre owned buy so I will definitely be asking for new paint or new wheels on my next visit. Chips and pits happen from road debris but clear coat coming off is a manufacturer defect.

One of My F-sport rim was peeling bad. Dealer is actually replacing the wheel with a new one (under warranty). I figured they would just refinish it. Not a new wheel.

My 2014 F Sport has the same problem. I also have a wheel that's darker than the others (it was recently replaced by Discount Tire, old one was bent). I'm probably just going to get some aftermarket 19's once the tires are worn out

If warranty cant fix it. I'll just save the money and invest in a set of after market rims. The stock fsports are nice, but its not WOW.

I also have this on my fsport wheels as well... if this were to get refinished what cost are most of you looking at if not covered by the warranty?

I am having the same problem with my 2014 Fsport, took it back to dealer they insisted it was refinished by someone before and refused to repair or replace it.

I thought they were going to say the same thing... Especially since the dealer refinished one rim prior to my purchase. Not sure which one it was though. It was on my service report. To my surprise they handled it.

This is what I am dealing with. It's much worse now.

I think that was the refinished rim.
On the edge of the peeling (on the left side) it looks like there is paint under the paint...which would suggest that is the refinished rim.

Default 2019 RX450h F-Sport Stock Rim Paint Failure

My 2019 rims

are toast too. Sure curb rash is an issue, but to have so much paint flake off towards the inner rims is appalling. I wonder who thought painting rims on a $65k SUV was a great idea?

Interesting because a friend of mine who has an F sport was telling me how the paint on his IS was coming off.. he went to the dealer and they claimed that it was "wear and tear"... lol

The dealer has a point based on that statement
