Ouch. There were a few cars that showed "wheel repair" in the carfax when I was shopping around. It's probably because of peeling and they refinished them. I had a similar issue with the PVD black chrome on my 2013 Fusion. They were replaced under warranty with gloss black.

How? It's paint lol (not sure if you're being sarcastic).. I'd assume it's treated differently to withstand even worse conditions. I have the same wheels as the RX (similar design), I have curb rash on mine and mine hasn't peeled like that.. I've also got some of them re-done because of my prior curb rash.. no peeling.. I do see a few chips but I'd assume those are due to rocks... that flaking on the RX he just posted is unacceptable and clearly a factory flaw
