Default Restart loop again a year later?

Almost exactly a year ago i dodged the info reatart loop issue....until tonight. Stereo was fine to and from work but the 4 times since ive been stuck in a restart loop for 30 minutes straight. Hard restarts from the volume **** had no effect.

Anyone else get this tonight?

The solution from the last time was to disconnect the battery for a minute. Try doing that.

Update

Disconnected battery for a hard restart and it got worse. It would show a light black screen for a half of second and the the total blackness of it being powered down. This is how the dealer saw it but also had videos of last night. After a few restarts it eventually wouldnt power up at all. After about 40 minutes of driving totally powered off a loading screen apeared with an SD card on it and a progress bar. After that then i was stuck in the restart loop of the first two screens (welcome to lexus and lexus enform) occasionally i will get to the third screen where it will freeze for ten seconds and then start the restart look for another 10 minutes.

I cant drop it off until next friday so i am just going to cover it with a manilla folder so i stop getting distracted while driving with the constant screen changes.

The real kicker is i just had them do a firmware update ( that they charged me for) two weeks ago since it was ocasionally getting stuck with the rear view.

The 2015+ models seem much more reliable. All the noise is from the 2014 model year.

Is the a procedure kicking around anywhere of how the software was force updated to a crashed system last year? You can get the firmware from the lexus site but the install instructions are from the main menu.

unless there was a custom tool to manually break in and change code (which i cant imagine) I would think its an autorun file like a virus. If it was a special version designed for last year, i could even use that to get me up and running and THEN update to the most recent firmware.

Since i have ZERO confidence in this infotainment system i have a feeling that even if i paid lexus to do it then it could arbitrarily decided to brick again and I would be in the same boat. Between the bushings that sounds like the suspension is going to fall out, the two panels that had the leather split just from my arm resting on them (the only function and arm rest is meant to serve) and the bricked infotainment sometimes i feel like a golf R wouldve been a MORE reliable choice

I may be wrong but isnt this what i mentioned above that lexus has the firmware to download and install via the menu system. But when you are stuck in the restart loop you never reach that point. It needs to be something that autoruns at initial power

Not sure how long you had the battery disconnected, but Lexus recommends a minimum of 5 minutes before reconnecting it to address the rebooting issue. 5 Minutes can seem like an eternity when you're standing there watching the battery terminal.

It was anywhere between 30 to 40 minutes while i got ready for work. After a couple hours driving it attempted to install again and i ended up at the same two screen loop as before.

So no one has ever fixed this with anything but either a battery disconnect or a dealer visit?

This happened to me last week. It also happened to me last year. Definitely seems to be a pattern here...

Mine just did it once and that was it.

I had this happened all the times. Of course not repeatable at the dealer. I've learned from this forums that you can force restart during driving by holding down the power button. It works!

I gave up on the system after reading how Toyota engineers write computer code. I'm a software engineer by trade so it's rather discouraging to see the horrendous coding practices at Toyota. It's not surprisinng at all to experience the horrible info system on the IS and imagine what the code must be like underneath it.

I dont think you properly understand the situation. Holding down the power button doesn't do anything because i am in a restart loop. Yes i can shut it down manually, but when it boots back up i can still only make it two screens inbefore it fails, and boots back up, repeat that cycle over and over and over....
