If you're driving it hard, 7500 would be reasonable. 5k still too soon.

BMW owners get blackstone lab reports done on their oil and at 15k, Blackstone says the oil and filtration still looks great. Modern oils are really good.

I think 10k is a happy medium, even if driven hard. Up to you though!

I was just about to post a thread about this. My maintenance light came on at 5k. Should I even worry about bringing it in? Its free of course.

I believe it should be 5,000 miles/6 months whichever come first for tire rotation or 10,000 miles/year whichever come first for oil change per manual..

but in my opinion 5000/6 months whichever come first...

My 5k light came on around 4850 miles. Took in it last week for the 5k service. There was nothing really to it, they just made sure the cars running fine. Below is what they did according to the dealership:

• Rotate tires and adjust tire pressures as required

• Reset maintenance reminder light

• Road-test vehicle

• Check installation of driver's floor mat

• Inspect and adjust all fluid levels

• Program Lexus Personalized Settings*, if requested

• Visually inspect brake pads, calipers and rotors

Was basically everything you can do yourself at home. Just a hassle going in and wasting a few hours for them to get the vehicle back to you.

I just changed my oil at the 35k mark, 5k total on the oil, but it's going to be sitting for a few months only being driven occasionally

The dealer doesn't change the oil at the 5000 mile check up. I do my own oil changes at 6000.

Every Toyota and Lexus service includes this ever since the "stuck accelerator" debacle.

I would change it. Toyota doesn't consider the IS250/350 performance oriented and driven hard daily by most owners, so 10k with synthetic is enough. But if its consistently being red lined, it will cause faster degradation of oil. Check the color of the oil, change it if its dark.

I drive all my cars like i stole it daily, so the oil is very brown by 5k. Never hurt to change it early

This is what I figured I'm not going to let them do it and have the car all day ...I'm also doing drill/slotted rotors and pads at the same time

This would be true in the 70s and 80s as told by some old guy who's "been around the block". Oil color is not an indicator of wear/end of life. The only true indicator is to have an oil analysis performed by a lab like Blackstone. Definitely doesn't hurt to change it early, other than spending 2x what you need to for absolutely no reason. To each their own.
