Default Insurance Claim Issue

I'm having a back and forth debate with GEICO right now about putting aftermarket vs OEM parts on my car. It's a 2016 model with under 10k miles plus its a lease so I am demanding original parts. Does anyone know if there is a requirement by Lexus that a leased car must be repaired with original parts. It will make this issue a lot easier to deal with if so.

It did not come up when we finished our RX lease. It had been rear ended and like you, I had to fight Geico who wanted to use all refurbished and non-OEM parts. I was asked at the end of the lease if it had been in an accident, and I said yes. They asked if everything had been repaired okay, I said yes, and that was that.

Thanks for the help guys. After more arguing they offered to give an OEM wheel instead of refurbished. They gave me that parts "meet or exceed expectations" story but I don't feel like taking the risk or delaying the overall repair more if they have to send the parts back. My body shop says the fender does not need to be replaced so he'll use that money to upgrade to the factory front bumper.

I had an accident last December, someone backed into my car; damage was about the size of a golf ball and a scratch. The car had less than 5k miles then. Dealing with Statefarm, the other person's insurance was a pain so i took it to Lexus since the dealer near me is a certified LFA shop. They handled everything, gave me an IS loaner and replaced with a brand new rear bumper- oem of course.

You must get OEM parts, insurance always being an ***, find a good mechanic shop. your car still under factory warranty so it deserves OEM only, unless your car is an old car out of warranty otherwise MUST BE OEM plus its still under lease, Geico and Statefarm are cheap but when it comes to car crash they will buy you ****ty parts or used parts, Don't let Insurance fool you, you must fight for OEM parts till the end....

My wife got in a accident in her Scion TC and they had to use OEM parts to fix it cause it was under a certain amount of years. (2016 like yours) I have USAA but I'm sure it's the same with all insurance companies. If you're not happy with the rep, ask to speak to a manager
