Default 2017 IS350 Back Up Camera

I couldn't find a thread about back up cameras. Does anyone know wher I can get an OEM camera for the 2017 IS350?

Thanks!

Backup camera is included in F Sport package, Luxury package and Premium package. It is an available option on all other models. It is therefore possible that some dealerships have ordered and are stocking base models without cameras.

I doubt this is available as an add-on kit. Seems like there would be very little demand for it, at least in the US. Most models in the US were probably ordered by the dealers with the backup camera installed. Probably 90% or more. But that's just a guess.

Could you ask your dealer if they can order all the necessary parts and install it, but don't ask them about a kit because one likely doesn't exist?

I'd think you'd have to go through a Lexus dealer no matter what for these parts.

Also, backup cameras are nice, but they aren't really necessary... I wouldn't worry to much about it. You've got a awesome car nonetheless. How much time do we spend in reverse anyway...

what you need to do FIRST is remove the trim panel on the underside of the trunk lid and see if there is a plug for the camera available. If there is the you can go with an OEM unit. If there isn't than you will have to go aftermarket which is easy to do, and yes Lexus DID NOT provide a plug on all the cars. I have a CDN F Sport and it didn't have a plug for an OEM camera.

Lexus Canada sold IS's without a back up camera? I thought the base system with the rotary wheel interface still had a camera?

Yep, that looks like it, so you are luckier than me. You should be able to add an OEM camera and just plug it in.

Try searching some local scrap yards to see if you can find one, from my understanding, the camera hasn't changed much over the years and one from a previous generation would work, but double check the plugs BEFORE you buy.

You'll also want to get the plastic trim piece above the license plate, as this has a hole punched out to accomodate the camera, although this piece would have to come from a current model 3IS. The only other thing would be to make the hole in the trunk lid for the camera to mount and the cable to pass through.

I know this sounds desperate but If anyone has a 2017 is350 base model who is willing to remove his trunk trim and take detailed pictures of how the back up camera is installed including where the wire goes and etc I'm giving 20 bucks! (like a continuation of mine see pics above. or better yet if you can remove it for a while and take photos of the camera itself. ill give 40 bucks!. you can post the pics here and pm me your email and ill paypal the money
