Default Anyone installed RR Racing USRS??

Hey guys,

Has anyone installed the RR-Racing Ultimate Steering Response System (USRS) on the 3IS? Seems interesting and I'm curious to hear a customer review.

Not sure of anyone having them on the 3is but know the ISF guys swear by them.

I do and I enjoy them a lot. I wouldn't say it's a necessary modification, but maybe I've had it long enough that I forget what driving on the OEM bushings is like.

I installed them and like them a lot. Coming from an STI, one of my chief complaints about the IS350 was the lack of weight and feedback from the steering wheel (largely due to hydraulic vs. electric racks). The USRS helped to provide some additional "heft" and feel to the steering, which I really enjoy. When I first installed them, it felt pretty night and day to me. Today, after having driven the car for about 6-7 months with them, it feels like the car should've come this way from the factory. Granted, there is a bit more firmness and, on cold mornings, they will squeak a bit over speed bumps (until they get warmed up), but small price to pay IMO. For the money, well worth it.

Thanks for the info. Would you say the feel is similar to an upgraded sway bar? Also how was the install? Easy?

Feel is a bit different than a sway bar, as I wouldn't say the USRS really reduces body roll in corners or alleviates understeer. It's really just a bit more buttoned down, and better steering feel.

As for install, I just had a shop do it - they charged $100 I believe - approximately 1hr of labor, although you might be able to do it in less time.

Hey guys, just quick little blurb... we are also working on a new suspension setup for the 3IS with full coilover rear conversion (for both RWD and AWD), many of the same advantages of our RRR/Penske setup, also made in USA, but at a MUCH lower price.

So we will have USRS/suspension packages soon hopefully, just completing testing.

thanks!

Rafi

Rafi, when is your IS350 tune coming out and will it be a OBD flash?

Will this fix the notorious inner front tire wear due to changes in toe under braking?

Yes, it will greatly improve inner tire wear with the front tires. You should also consider having the tires re-aligned with the front toe set to zero to further reduce inner tire wear.
