This is what I'm using currently. So stylish. Works fine. I'm hardly driving anywhere. Teaching from home. Once I get the Lexion unit next year, the phone
may go back to the cup holder. https://www.target.com/p/buggygear-g...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
Can you post a pic? This is hilarious. Aftere getting this mount, I don't see the point in getting the head unit anymore tbh. I would be paying $600 to look a few degrees up. I also feel like I might get rid of this car so having to swap head units back will be a huge hassle as I'm sure next buyer would prefer stock (even if it has Apple CarPlay)
Grippy works fine in my IS.I throw him a banana on occasion and he's good to go. I had him in my MB CLA 250 and it didn't work in that car. I'll post a picture tomorrow.
He's be perfect for a Swaangin car!

By special request, here is Grippy (tail removed, sorry Grippy). Who that guy in the mirror is, I have no clue.
I will add my mount to the thread as well, it is an expensive mount, but very much worth it. I have run the iOttie wireless mount for 5-6 years now through different revisions, and I truly believe this mount to be the best on the market. The mount is a wireless charger, so as soon as you snap the phone in, it starts charging automagically. The spot that I chose to mount it in, seems to not block any vision and is out of the way of everything, and also in the line of sight, but mounting locations are a personal choice.

Awesome mount man for sure. The only thing I might be concerned with is it's using a sticky cup, I have one for my radar (which was brand new) and it's fell off so many times

I can tell you with my many years of usage on this, that is not an issue. I have these in each of my cars, and over 4 years (I just looked at my Amazon purchase history), I have had to reattach the suction cup literally 1 or 2 times. The cup is not just suction, but has some sort of sticky stuff on it, that I guess is suppose to reactivate with water, but I have never had to do that. It is so strong, that when they first came out, they had a few negative reviews on Amazon from people that stuck it to their dashboard, and it literally ripped the dash covering off when trying to remove it. They solved that problem by now including a little rubber disk that you glue to your dash, and then suction to that, but why even use the dash when you can use the windshield?
The only issue I have really had, was I put it in a rental car once, and it was a pain in the *** to get it back off the windshield, but luckily it has a little pull tab to help.
Can someone kindly recommend a good phone mount for the newer IS 350 that does not use the windshield? No preference as far as using the vent or CD slot but whichever offers the best position and stability. Thanks in advance.
I randomly saw a YouTube video ad for the ProClipUSA mount, I was always against the idea of covering a vent but once I saw it in action, I was sold. It easily slides the phone in and out and once it's held, the phone is locked in and stable. No idea how it works. The mounts are custom for the car, they hook in between the vent and plastic, super secure fit, keeps the dash flush. A bit pricy, after selecting for iPhone Pro Max & shipping, it was $90. I think they're made by the order, not mass produced
Another vote for ProClip from me! Made in Sweden from milled ABS (not injection molded), custom fit, phone doesn't not block anything at all (if you put the mount to the right of the clock), and it's rock solid. I recommend getting the holder listed for the rugged cases if your phone case width is within the listed range, which can be found on their website.
I've had mine for over three and a half years in all sorts of temperatures and the mount is a beast. Definitely worth the extra $.
2 weeks ago I purchased a 2014 IS350 RWD F-Sport and I love it, but one thing I hate is the lack of convenient places to place my phone. I've looked at the common phone mount solutions and think all of them are not ideal. I came across the UGREEN magnetic phone stand for desks on Amazon and thought I could make it work and it is better than any other solution I've seen! I mounted it with a few 3M black Command Strips after cleaning the dash and bottom of the stand with an alcohol wipe, and I removed the thin rubber pads that originally came on the base of the stand. For this to work with my phone (the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which is not MagSafe compatible), I had to affix a thin metal ring to the back of the phone case (the ring was included with the stand). If your phone has MagSafe, it will work just fine. This isn't a charging stand, so you'd have to run a cable to power. Everything is solid, with no shaking during driving and the orientation of the stand remaining firm. I thought about centering it on the dash, but it's more convenient having it a little closer to me while driving.
